Location of settings
Should the settings link be accessable from all sidebars instead of only being accessable by clicking on the username link and then the sidebar?

That's fair. I just found it a bit unintuitive.
I also found it a bit unintuitive to have the site settings in the profile.
Not saying anything about where it should be, but looking at the first big sites that came to mind, Facebook and Reddit both have it immediately available at the top right.
Looking at others near the top of the Alexa top 500, so do YouTube, Wikipedia, Twitter, Twitch, and I'm sure plenty of others. It seems that either a direct settings link or a dropdown with a settings link on the same level as the link to go to profile are exceedingly common.
It's hard to pinpoint exactly. I think it's because I had to find my profile, and then I was searching around there and thought to use the sidebar. And lo and behold, there it is. Maybe it would be easier to put the settings link directly on the profile instead of having to go to the sidebar. I'm pretty sure Reddit does it like that, where you click on your profile and the setting link is just right there.
This is not a bad suggestion. I didn't really have issues locating it, but I also work daily with very un-human applications.
Maybe, this and similar personal modifications warrant a click test.
