Airplane crashes, especially catastrophic airplane crashes are... rare statistically speaking. I'm looking at this, wondering if I'm waaay to far into conspiracy theory territory with the thoughts going through my head right now.

Edit 2025-Feb-1 T:1717. Calmer and less conspiracy-theory-level paranoid right now. Analysis of probable cause for the crash from a pilot who is also a YouTuber.

It may be possible that overworked/understaffed traffic control were involved in both, but I'm not sure you can blame them for this one at all. Not until we know way more

If it were a conspiracy it'd be a distraction from the infiltration of federal employee files and government payment systems, I guess?

The jet was going full bore on a steep dive into the ground. It hit like a missile. I'm going to say ATC issues are unlikely as cause.

My 'crazy conspiracy theory' line of worry was more along the lines of malicious technical compromise. As a country, we are currently engaged in... quite a lot of aggressive and worrisome actions, and threats thereof, targeting a number of different nations. One specific nation that is a strategic peer and highly technically capable comes to my mind.

I do understand that! It's not even the most conspiratorial thing I've personally considered this week. It seems unlikely a Mexican medical flight would be the target though

Thank you for the reasonable counterpoint. That would represent unwanted collateral as I'm sure they're eager to present themselves as an attractive alternative partner to everyone the US is...

Thank you for the reasonable counterpoint. That would represent unwanted collateral as I'm sure they're eager to present themselves as an attractive alternative partner to everyone the US is alienating.
