Kansas City has something like this: The Independence Avenue Bridge. Its clearance is 12ft. Though it doesn't "eat" trucks nearly as often as 11foot8 does. Has some cool artwork around it, too.

I imagine this happens to the truck drivers too... maybe there is something supernatural about this gate... a power spot with high Qi levels...
I live in the area and have driven under it completely unexpectedly a few times, always a little brain shock; even when I drive a 5ft tall car haha
11ft 8 plus 8, actually. They raised in by 8" some years ago and it's far less dramatic now.
