Huh. I want to go to Kenya, so I'm hoping this visa free travel gets through sooner rather than later. I'm Nigerian btw

Good news all around. In a globalizing society borders need to be weakened, not strengthened.

Can I ask: if you lived in Rwanda and you were subject to the effects of that happening, would you still agree as heartily about letting everyone in indiscriminately?

I don't know if I'm misunderstanding something here, but this seems like a pretty weird question. It sounds like vord is in favour of weakening borders everywhere, what specifically about Rwanda...

It sounds like vord is in favour of weakening borders everywhere, what specifically about Rwanda do you think would change their mind?

This is correct. Most "open borders problems" are really just "other countries have closed borders" problems.

Just wanted to ask also if African people feel the same way about an African EU-style open-borders bloque bloc as the Europeans generally felt about establishing the EU?

I certainly can't speak for Africans as whole, but I do know that the pan-African movement has been highly influential in many parts of Africa for generations.

In the 1950s and 1960s, there was a real movement toward forming an African governing body something like the EU (although I don't know if open borders were part of the plan), but before it could get anywhere meaningful, it was undermined by former colonizing powers in the region (such as France and Belgium) and their allies (such as the US) via strategic funding, assassinations, and other political maneuverings aimed at keeping the African nations weak and dependent on their former colonizers. At this time, the world powers were working hard to subjugate poorer nations in pursuit of the arms race, and Africa was considered a keystone region for this. Africa would be a very different place today if it hadn't been for the Cold War.

Its super irritating that FirstWorld™️ interests are almost always the wedge here. These "people" need to be found and held accountable in whatever way best and most efficaciously serves the purposes of not only justice, but resolution. Particularly resolution/closure. They love it so as it pertains to poor people's criminality, they should feel similarly with regards to their own.

How do actual Rwandans feel about open borders in the context of African domestic policy?
