    University Challenge

Might be my favourite quiz show on television right now, after 15 to 1. There is the chance to be smug when you get more than a handful of questions right. All while spending the whole thirty minutes debating the contestants fashion sense and team dynamics just does it for me.

    Hela Sverige Bakar

Not a patch on the UK version, the Swedish one really suffers for pacing with ad breaks and a 45 minute run time. Plus the feigned surprise when they don't kick a contestant out in the first episode is starting to really niggle. Does increase the chances of cake in the house on a weekend though!

    Grand Designs

Against the consensus on numerous putrid message boards on tabloid websites, I'd rather watch rich folk pour good money after bad building their dream homes in gratuitous fashion than the reverse. No-one wants to watch regular folks life savings vanish on prime time TV...

    Alias

Might possibly be one of the most frenetic pieces of title music for a show ever, and I'm really regretting having developed such an energetic dance for it. Can't stop now though, as my moves are pure nostalgia for the wife.

I finished watching She-Hulk. It was good lighthearted fun, but it felt like a very long pilot. There's just a lot of narrative packed in that doesn't even come close to arriving at a satisfying stage. I really hope Disney understands that and give next season episodes the runtime they deserve.

EDIT: They also need to step-up their legal drama game. The bits where She-Hulk is in court are way too basic. Either drop this altogether or steal an intern from The Good Fight. The last episode actually had a decent legal subplot, but She-Hulk was not in it.

That was also a complaint for Ms Marvel and Moon Knight. Another way to put it would be “this is basically an origin movie but twice-to-three times the length.” Though I’d say Ms Marvel is much better just purely based on its stylistic merit.

I suppose a solution to this is, if they really don’t want to do theatrical, is either make Disney+ movies or shorten the number of episodes in these series. Maybe like three 45 minute episodes instead of six 35 minute episodes.

Atlanta, the fourth and final season

With the show ending soon, I was thinking about how much it has evolved since the first season that first aired around six years ago. It's gotten a lot more sophisticated in the critiques it hides beneath the absurdist comedy. I feel like I have changed as the show has changed, and have appreciated it in different ways.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power

I think the most recent episode (episode 4) was the best yet, although I'm not really a big fan of the show to be honest. I enjoy the spectacle of it but beneath the glitz the script leaves a lot to be desired.

    House of the Dragon

I wasn't expecting much but have been pleasantly surprised by this GoT spinoff. The plot is tightly woven and well constructed, the characters are compelling, and the twists are satisfying. The costume design is also great. I'd recommend it.

I've been watching Rings of Power (and if anyone wants to chat fan theories, I'm down) and slowly catching up on the two latest marvel shows (Ms Marvel and She Hulk). Rings of Power I would say is "good" and both the marvel shows are pretty good. They both have more interesting things to say than a lot of other Marvel stuff.

I was thinking of getting back into American Horror Story; I left off it at some point.
