This comment might as well be marked as noise but I have to get off my chest that this man is a misogynist and a homophobe. The original director of this show was fired because he thought there was too much focus on female characters, something along those lines... And do not even get me started on Sam Levison, good grief. I hope this show bombs and that nobody ever calls him an "auteur", yuck.

I am a huge fan of The Weeknd's music, and none of this surprises me at all. The guy got famous for recording whiny RnB about never respecting women except as sex objects and caretakers, and any development past that conception of the feminine has come across as the frat guy who's ready to settle down. He went from hard drug abuse to kids' choice awards and the number one album of the pandemic. An overdeveloped ego is the least we should expect.

That said, even if it's a shitshow of despicable characters and messages, I might enjoy the series. The guy's got a strong artistic sensibility. It might be trite or hamfisted or nonsensically written, but that can still be entertaining.
