Any fans here of "Bee And Puppycat", the original series on YouTube and the sorta reboot on Netflix?
I absolutely adore both, it has such a relaxing animation style and soundtrack. Kind of an embarrassing guilty pleasure as a guy.
The soundtrack is partially by the artist Baths who is also incredible. And I just saw its been released sometime recently!
Anyways please leave your thoughts about the show, I hope it gets another season, which is likely since they were partially acquired by Toho studios

I love animation and watched the original and "sort of reboot". While it's not my favourite, I liked it quite a bit and I hope they continue the story. I like the relaxing "slice of life" aspect mixed with a bit of comedy and intrigue. I know it's not the same but have you watched Hilda?
I really like the first season of Hilda I think I got a bit bored after that though. Steven Universe up until they retconned the finale.
Yeah the first season of Hilda is definitely the best. If you enjoyed Steven Universe I imagine you've given Adventure Time a go? It also has a lot of weirdness to it like Bee and Puppycat, though a very different feel. I know people who like Bee and Puppycat also liked Summer camp Island and the vibe is similar but it wasn't my cup of tea.
I was a huge fan of adventure Time and still rewatch random episodes here and there. Haven't gotten to summer camp Island though, maybe I saw a clip of it and it didn't interest me very much.
As someone who missed the boat completely with Adventure Time, what are the episodes would you recommend me to watch. I enjoy the majority of animation, with the futurama episode Jurassic Bark being my all time favourite episode.
I'd recommend you continue to the second season of Hilda. There's some really heart touching episodes in there if that's your thing. My favourite being s2e9: the deerfox.
I haven't watched the YouTube series, but I absolutely adored the Netflix one. My wife and I went around for weeks making Puppycat sounds at one another.
I love how low-key it is, and at the same time how incredibly surreal the whole world is. It's like watching a cozy rainy day dream, and I have a real soft spot for comfort food-type animation.
I watched the shorts and then the reboot on Netflix and this may be an unpopular opinion but I honestly enjoyed the Netflix reboot a little more. It seemed to flow better together which I think makes sense because the originals were made spaced out in time.
I absolutely love the soundtrack and am very much hoping for more.
I'm kind of with you on preferring the Netflix series, I find it's just more comfy and chill, maybe due to the animation style and palette, and I think they were given a lot more room to have just calm moments.
It's one of my favorite things of all time, honestly. It's one of the most beautiful, relaxing, and heartfelt things I've ever seen, and the aesthetics are just breathtaking. I also love the way the story is told - or perhaps instead it's better to say that I love how it doesn't tell you everything outright.
There were things I didn't like about when it got brought over to Netflix, mainly that everything was delayed while the production team were made to make that really weird first episode that essentially retconned the original series. Listening to Cardamon's voice actor's changed voice was particularly bizarre. But nothing could take away my satisfaction that there was finally some more Bee and Puppycat. For those who haven't seen it, I would recommend watching the first series off of youtube and then watching the netflix series skipping the first episode.
I love the comics, didn't know youtube made it into a show or rebooted it either. Is Puppycat more puppy or cat????
Anyway, does the show have plenty of abstract weirdness mixed with the mundanity of "I gotta work this boring job to make rent"
I think the comic was largely done by Nat Allegri, who also did a good amount of the art for Adventure Time way back.
I'm pretty sure the comics are based on the original YouTube series that was kick started. It's definitely a lot of abstract weirdness with having to do temp jobs. Natasha Allegri is the main creator of the cartoon AFAIK.
It's got a super cosy vibe, and a bit like Adventure Time, manages cute and surreal pretty well. Also like Adventure Time, the lore feels fairly deep, a lot is hinted at beneath the surface, but it isn't afraid to be silly and light hearted. Definitely one of my favourite animation works, although I haven't seen the Netflix reboot yet.
I'd wholeheartedly recommend Over the Garden Wall if anyone hasn't seen it, and is looking for more charming animation to watch. It's a little darker, but has an all-star voice cast, and I'm still picking up small details I'd missed, rewatch after rewatch.
Over the Gardenwall is lovely. It's like a long televised well animated spooky visual story book. Love me some Elijah Woods.
Gregory! 🐸
The real question is though:
What's the best frog name?
Chance of another season!?! Best news I got today
