TV Tuesdays Free Talk
Have you watched any TV shows recently you want to discuss? Any shows you want to recommend or are hyped about? Feel free to discuss anything here.
Please just try to provide fair warning of spoilers if you can.
I watched the first two episodes of The Walking Dead Daryl Dixon and I have to say that I quite enjoyed them. I haven't really liked The Walking Dead (the main show) after Rick was written out and I also haven't enjoyed the other spinoff shows but this new one has been quite good so far. I think it's because of the new setting (which is also more familiar to me) and the almost entirely new cast. I really hope it stays good.
I've also been watching Ahsoka, which I'm also pleasantly surprised with. I never liked The Clone Wars animated series but I had to give the new Ahsoka show a try and I love it. Adult Ahsoka is a pretty compelling character and I loved seeing Ray Stevenson (RIP) in there.
And last but not least: Star Trek Lower Decks. I just love everything about this show. In my opinion it's the best modern Star Trek show. I also really like Strange New Worlds, but Lower Decks beats it by a hair in my opinion. I love the voice acting and the writing and I really enjoy the references to older shows. It's just great all around. It really makes up for the extremely lackluster Star Trek Discovery and Picard.
The Bear (Disney+)
Disney+ subscription is on sale, so I finally signed up. I've seen this show get a lot of praise, so it gets the honour of being the first ever show I watch on this service.
I'm 7 episodes in, and so far it's very good. I've enjoyed watching the protagonist turn the chaotic diner into a professional restaurant, and the little dribbles of backstory sprinkled throughout. One thing I struggled a little with was the heavy use of kitchen lingo, and I found myself being more engaged in the show after looking up what all the lingo means.
And I'm looking for recommendations! What other shows are worth watching on Disney+ for someone who isn't really into Star Wars or Marvel?
The only show I've been meaning to watch that's on D+ is Willow - I haven't actually watched it yet so it's not a personal recommendation, but if you like fantasy series, I'd recommend checking it out based on what I've read about it! Make sure you watch the movie (also called Willow) first though if you haven't already seen it.
Thanks for the tip. :-)
