The Pacific - 8/10
I first watched this maybe 10 years ago, and apparently gave it a 7/10 back then - but rewatching it this week and I have upped my rating! It's a lot better than I remember, but perhaps that is in the light of Masters of the Air not living up to the hopes of it reaching Band of Brothers in quality.
The Pacifichas some exceedingly gruesome scenes, like truly gratuitously violent in a way that feels like isn't really done anymore? At least not in serious drama, because stuff like The Boys is violent for comedic reasons. The depiction of the sheer horror of the Pacific theatre of the war is almost too leaned into at points, but it's very effective. Joseph Mazzello felt like a total miscast and while he did grow on me a little, he still didn't seem quite right for the role. I have little else to really say about it to be honest, but I'm very glad to have watched it again..!
are they releasing a new season of sandman or no?
I read it was renewed for season 2 but no firm release date.
Has anyone else watched Sugar on Apple TV+? I was so entertained by it. It has the most out of left field twist. If anyone is on the fence about watching it- it is a complete show in 8 episodes with an open ending that could accommodate more.
