I think it's less obvious than some of his other projects. I think he's more constrained by this IP than in anything else he's worked on. It hasn't had much humor at all.

I'm 5 episodes into Alien: Earth and so far, so good. If you're a fan of the IP or Noah Hawley, this has both.

RIP Leonard Quinhagak. So many great roles for Graham Greene over the years, but that was the first time I watched him on-screen.

I watched Wes Anderson's 'The Phoenician Scheme' last night and really enjoyed it. As far as I can tell, this seems to be one of his most divisive movies but I don't understand the complaints. His signature aesthetic is very much intact here; it screams Wes Anderson. The plot is a good deal more straightforward than just about anything else he's made. There's a good deal less character development, but it's tighter and closely aligned to the plot. Also, there are plenty of the absurd moments/vignettes he's known for.

Long story short, as a committed Wes Anderson fan I enjoyed the movie and would recommend it.

After a quick look, in addition to your list I'd throw Chappie, Spotlight, Mississippi Grind, Legend, The Martian, and The Lobster into consideration.

Finished up my cheap 3 month Apple TV+ deal with 'Criminal Record'. This got great reviews but I was just ok with it. It was a little too slow burn all the way through and I just didn't engage with it. At times I felt like it relied on the leads' acting skills(Cush Jumbo and Peter Capaldi) to propel the story. The end had a little too much 'here's a bunch of new info to tie it up' for me. Entertaining enough to get me through 8 episodes but I doubt I'd watch a second season.

I thought it was overall ok and I really enjoyed Dylan's 'affair' with his Outie's wife and getting an answer to what MDR was actually doing. I'm curious who the other test subjects were for the files the other refiners worked on.

I have just finished Severance S2 and I was... Whelmed? There was some fun scenes in new rooms, interesting new people, and some answers for first season mysteries, but... It just didn't hit like the first season and despite knowing it has been renewed for a 3rd season, I'm ambivalent about continuing. I wonder at what point the writers knew they had a 3rd season? Because the finale felt pretty final. Oh well, fingers crossed.

I'll finish this season, but it won't be top of my list in the future when I'm binging Apple TV+ content during a one month subscription.

Interesting. I've mostly heard complaints from book people about too many changes.

I am a fellow noob to this IP and I have to say, I enjoy the look of the opening credits more than the actual show. This 100% should've been animated. It's fine but not impressive.

I just finished a complete rewatch of Andor season 1, then went right into season 2 and Rogue One. Before Andor, I thought Rogue One was the best Star Wars project Disney had done but now that Andor is finished, I'm convinced it's the best by a lot. If only Tony Gilroy had the movie from the beginning...

I don't think there will be anything like Andor any time soon. Gilroy is leaving and the way I've heard Lucasfilm and Disney execs cluelessly speak about it doesn't fill me with hope. I don't think Disney/Lucasfilm have ever understood what their audience wants or why there was so much passion for Andor & Rogue One.

I recommend both of these projects; the cost of 1 month of Disney+ is well worth it for them alone.

I put every other show on hold and almost completely avoided YouTube last week to rewatch season 1 of The Last Of Us. Worth it! (I'm not a gamer and I have never played either of the video games this series is based on.)

I watched the first episode of season 2 and really enjoyed it. Seems like a lot of this season's problems were set up and I really liked some of the new cast: Kaitlyn Dever and Isabella Merced, especially.
