Huh, really? Kinda funny how wildly different people's perspectives can be even after watching the exact same thing. I felt the exact opposite as you did. IMO it was a great episode with quite a few funny, memorable moments. E.g. Joel getting pranked with the egg right off the bat, Joanna overexplaining her prize and Greg's response to her, Amy and Joel geeking out over Kumail in the team task, Joanna and Armando being totally oblivious to the rules yet still succeeding at the team task through sheer luck, Greg and Alex both poking fun at Kumail throughout. And I have even higher hopes for this season thanks to that first episode.

My favorite is still the one they did to Mark Watson where he had to send Greg a "cheeky" text message daily for 6 months. :P

I only really watched the season with Jason Mantazoukas and clips of tasks so I'm curious, is that egg task the first time something like this has happened? I'm only asking because Ludwig did a knock off called Unpaid Intern where one contestant did a task that no one else did and it was hilarious.
Season 5 had the best one person task with Mark Watson having to text Greg something flirty every day for 6 months. He texted every day except one so Greg gave him no points.

If you're looking for a good place to start, @tomf actually asked my what my favorite seasons/series were when they were first looking to dive into the show too. And here is the comment I made back then, which you might find similarly useful as well:
Series 7 would be my top recommendation. The cast that season (James Acaster, Jessica Knappett, Kerry Godliman, Phil Wang, and Rhod Gilbert) were absolutely incredible, and a disproportionate amount of my all-time favorite Taskmaster moments are from that season.
This also might just be recency bias, but IMO Series 19 (Fatiha El-Ghorri, Jason Mantzoukas, Mathew Baynton, Rosie Ramsey, and Stevie Martin) was also insanely good. And this latest one, Series 20, was also better than average as well. I really liked all the cast members this season, even Sanjeev Bhaskar despite him clearly NGAF about the show. :P
Edit: Quickly looking back through the cast list, Series 1-4 were great as well, so if you didn't watch those before moving on to Series 5, I would recommend doing so. But Series 10, Series 11, and Series 16 were also standouts in my mind too.
Donโt do what I did and start with all of the unbelievable seasons, though. Every season so far has been great, but 5 absolutely nailed it for me and it took a bit for the second series to catch...

This show is so fun. I canโt believe I put it off for so many years.

I liked this ep. I think they'll grow on us. I am absolutely with you wrt Nanjiani -- but I think he'll also grow on me. That final task was thrilling, but I might also be a sucker for a good edit :)

Loved it. Laughed the whole way through and really like the cast.

Season 21 OUTTAKES: Part 1 | Taskmaster
I was just lamenting to myself that I wished I had something to watch and chill out to. Perfect timing!
I don't know how "chill" that video is... I was genuinely laughing so hard watching it that I started getting teary eyed and sweating. :P
Yea, fair! I appreciated that they included an extended version of Joanna's sherry fish story, too funny!
LOL, yeah. I can see why they cut so much of that out from the broadcast, since it just kept going on and on and on... but it was so damn hilarious that I'm glad we still got to see the whole thing. :P

Iโm with you, I thought it was one of the strongest openers for a few series.
That egg is going to be a real highlight for the series.
LOL yeah I am looking forward to seeing the egg pop up randomly throughout the series. But Joel managing to keep the same egg for all those months without it cracking is also impressive as hell. And the fact that Greg didn't give him any points for it is the icing on the cake. :P
I love when they fuck with someone like this but I appreciate restraint in not doing it every series.
This could topple the beans.

My favorite is still the one they did to Mark Watson where he had to send Greg a "cheeky" text message daily for 6 months. :P
I love that it had equal impact on Greg, too. what a gem of a show.
Mike Wozโs fartโฆ good god.
An absolute casserole down there.
LOL yeah that one had me absolutely dying laughing... but it was so gross I don't think I can really call it my "favorite" :P

Hah, ew. Imagine hearing that every time your receive a text message. ๐คข
holy shit! Mike NAILED the finale's prize task!
LOL, yeah. I was surprised by how much the mohawk suited him too. :P
And funnily enough, he did the exact opposite haircut for another show as well. He revealed the aftermath and talked about it on the Taskmaster podcast a few months ago.

I haven't watched this episode yet but the solo task to screw with someone is absolutely a thing that occurs off and on

Agreed about season 7, but I think season 5 is way up there too.
Season 4!!!
Heโs so famous.
That was so cute lol
Donโt do what I did and start with all of the unbelievable seasons, though. Every season so far has been great, but 5 absolutely nailed it for me and it took a bit for the second series to catch me. :)
This show is so fun. I canโt believe I put it off for so many years.
it was my pandemic show, helped keeping things fun.
excellent pick. I was all into Cats Does Countdown then moved to the main show.

Surprised nobody has mentioned that the first solo task was quite literally the first series.
I liked this ep. I think they'll grow on us. I am absolutely with you wrt Nanjiani -- but I think he'll also grow on me.
That final task was thrilling, but I might also be a sucker for a good edit :)
Mostly agree, but it looks like Greg is having fun again, and was actually making some nice jokes. Maybe the USA trip helped.
