This is a legal review of the lawsuit by Michael Crichton's estate against Warner Bros concerning similarities between The Pitt and ER.
Although statements are made about the show, this is a review of the lawsuit. It is not a review of the show, its actors, or its creators.
This following repetition may seem excessive, but in my experience, it is not... this is a legal review. This is not a review of the artistic merits of a TV show.
So excited to watch this review of the show! Ty! /Kidding kidding Actually interested in this as the controversy turned me off of The Pitt before hearing how good it is.

I didn't really think "copy" so much as "didn't want to pay the estate but wanted to basically use the characters and setting so instead they filed the serial numbers off those to reuse them." I...

You should probably watch it because it is not even that.

My reasons for not watching it right now are mostly about not wanting to deal with additional medical trauma on top of my current medical trauma. So I'll watch it when I'm ready. As I said, I'm...

I added the LegalEagle tag, which I hope helps drive home what you're saying, though on reflection that's probably only helpful if people know what Legal Eagle is.

Regardless of the lawsuit, if that was preventing you from watching it, I can personally say that The Pitt is not a copy of ER in any way.
I didn't really think "copy" so much as "didn't want to pay the estate but wanted to basically use the characters and setting so instead they filed the serial numbers off those to reuse them."
I know the show is distinct.
You should probably watch it because it is not even that.

That makes sense. It was hard to watch parts of The Pitt because it resembled real-life medical trauma of when I had to watch relatives go.
