At home re-watching The Good Place (NBC, 2016) sharing it for the first time with my teen kid.

If you're not familiar with the sitcom, the premise is that Eleanor Shellatrop, Arizona dirtbag, has died and gone to The Good Place, but she knows there's been a mistake and she's not supposed to be there. Her options are to try and pretend and blend in, or face eternal torture at the other place. Strong writing, fast paced, funny characters.

We're nearing the end of season 3, which is where the humans are ending their time on earth. I honestly forgot where the show is going with this after this point, until the finale ending.

:D it's so nice sharing old things with someone going in blind! The show really did deliver some of the surprises well, the biggest ones being (1) the Bad Place reveal (2) Michael asking everyone to throw themselves under the trolley and (3) "I solved it, I solved the trolley problem!"

Admittedly I don't watch a ton of television but The Good Place is a top five show for me. Tons of memorable bits, solid story arcs, and it doesn't wear out it's welcome with too many seasons/episodes. I don't often find myself drawn to network sitcoms but I'll regularly recommend it to anyone who hasn't tried it

Have you read Mike Schur's intro to moral philosophy book, How to be Perfect? I found it to be a fun companion piece to the show.

I had downloaded the whole Andor series to watch while I was flying to/from Japan and I finished the whole show on the plane. I then watched the movie a few days after I arrived home. Of Andor season 1, season 2 and Rogue One, season 1 is definitely the strongest here. It doesn't rush anything, story lines and characters have amazing progression, and the cinematography is top notch. Season 2 is still good, but it can feel rushed at times. You can sorta see the original vision of having 5 seasons of Andor, one each for the 5 years before the Battle of Yavin but things had to get whittled down. Rogue One is, rather unfortunately, the weakest of the three here. The cinematography, while alright, feels dull compared to the show and I think the story feels a bit rushed. Overall a decent end to a fantastic series.

Rogue One is my favourite Star Wars movie and Andor is my favourite Star Wars media overall. And yeah it's definitely curious to have watched that movie a dozen times already, then go to Andor and watch the changes, and then afterwards watch Rogue One once again - those differences really do quite stand out!

Sounds like a great way to spend time on those flights.

have you also watched Little Drummer Girl?

I haven't, but it seems fun so I'll add it to my list. I saw Tom Hiddleston talk about this on Colbert, that le Carré wanted there to be more. The series is being made with le Carré's sons as executive producers and the book also includes Colombia as one of the locations so they were able to include parts of it that couldn't be there in the first season.

it’d be handy to have the ability to consume toxins on the Pine level and live.

it’s good they’re protecting his legacy while also producing the work. I wish the Crichton estate would get into this and give us a Congo series

It would be nice to have a new adaptation of Critchton other than the fifteen new Jurassic World

I'm really surprised his estate hasn't penned an overall deal with Apple or Amazon -- Apple would be a great home. All of these sorts of authors should be doing it.

My sister convinced me to watch The Traitors: Australia. i feel for this one girl who claims to be psychic. i’m only two episodes in… and i don’t really believe in that stuff… but she might actually be psychic. if she can convince the others to vote with her, she’ll be a legend.

if i were psychic, that’s the last thing i’d tell the group, though.

anyone ever been in a game show of any type?

edit: 01/25: jesus christ. The Night Manager has some of the absolute worst writing tonight. hahahahah. This never should have been made.
