I wouldn't be surprised if shes an 'also starring' this season, even though it would make me a little sad.

Which is exactly what I need!! The Orville to get a little more grown up (not meaning to get rid of the humour, just more mature) and Disco paying more than just lip-service to the fact it's Trek.

I've been liking Orville so far so I'm looking forward to season 2 ... it's filling my ST:TNG nostalgia.
But an of topic question with this and a lot of the SDCC trailers: Why is there a quick 3 second preview bit of the trailer before the trailer now? A little "high action" moment. Is this just a views thing so people won't skip over it browsing through YouTube thumbnails and the first few seconds plays or something like that? Is it just an attention grabbing thing since trailers have a ramp up? I keep thinking that I accidentally jumped to the middle of the trailer...
I believe it has something to do with the idea that a person decides if they want to stay on a website within 10s it it starting to load. Maybe this concept has leaked out into video teasers too.

I know Star Trek spoofs have been done to death, but I think MacFarlane really nails the whole pastiche thing here by playing it a bit more serious than your typical "Redshirts" comedy. He's also gotten much better as an actor it seems.
I think they found a better pacing for the humour as the series got on, more situational and less set-up-and-punchline. So I'm hopeful that trend continues, with Game of Thrones, Handmaids Tale,...

I agree that MacFarlane's acting has improved, and looks to be continuing the trend in the trailer, but next to 'proper' actors like Adrianne Palicki he still comes off a little wooden. But hey, even Patrick Stewert had a stick up his bum for a while in TNG, playing the show as a Shakespearean theatre production he was so used to.

The world is a better place with both shows!!
I love this show. I can't wait for season two. I'm happy to see Alara. This should put to rest the rumors about Halston Sage leaving.

I get the sense from the trailer for this and Discovery that they're slowly starting to meet in the middle.

I can't tell if this is a meta-joke or just sheer obliviousness.
I took it as a meta-joke. I am a hopeful optimist :D
Love it, plus now I get to make my teen kids super-psyched by showing the trailer tonight. So thanks. :-)
Happy to spread the love and laughs!!
