Link works in the US for now for non-cable subscribers, not entirely sure about international access, future episodes or if this one will eventually expire. Not sure if this is going to be a one of post for the premiere with midseason and finale check-ups, or if we are doing weekly, since "The Good Place" threads aren't exactly hopping.

    Notes:

    • This episode's title is a pain to type out.
    • Fascism being a multiverse default is kind of disturbing, but I would figure that Fascist Morty would want more lore based adventures rather than mindless shenanigans, based on the people I know.
    • I cracked up when Morty just randomly went into tones and that somehow got him off the hook for an unstoppable science fiction boy rampage.
    • Holo Rick immediately turning on his oppressors when he becomes corporeal doesn't really improve my opinion on Artificial Intelligences or Ricks to be honest.
    • The post end credits scene is predictable, but very this show.

They went a little too "We're so meta" but it was overall pretty great, the running gags they went with were done well, as well.

They tend to go pretty out there for season premieres, and they split up Rick and Morty so that interplay isn't a big part of this episode, but the big concept of the episode is that they also switch roles where Morty is the hypercompetent godman, and Rick is hanging by the seat of his pants, and they seem to better understand each other by the end of the episode, so that's nice.

Overall it was great. There were a couple of elements that ruined the immersive nature of the show. Warning: Season 3 spoiler 1. They broke the fourth wall by referencing "season 4" in the show....

Warning: Season 3 spoiler 1. They broke the fourth wall by referencing "season 4" in the show. It apparently references some fan drama from the third season about women ruining the show. Which possibly relates to Beth's divorce from Jerry and the fact that women took a more central role in season 3. Which maybe relates to Dan Harmon, (the creator of the show) real life divorce? Dan Harmon is now dating someone, so perhaps that is all cool now. I kind of went down a rabbit hole on this because I was more interested in seeing what people said about the fact that....
Warning: Season 4 spoiler!!!! 2. They killed Rick. This was a real bummer for me. Once you kill off the main character, and then bring them back, it ruins the suspense. "Oh, is Rick about to be killed and brought back to life again?" Plus there are continuity problems. Rick's should stay dead, then the Morty without a Rick is collected by the citadel of Ricks and assigned to a Rick lacking a Morty...

When a Morty without a Rick is collected by the citadel of Ricks, it implies it was possible for Rick's to die. That plus all the Rick's that were killed in previous seasons.

Now it appears it is impossible for Rick's to die. Which is a continuity problem.

Unless Rick clones is a recent innovation shared by mostly fascist parallel universes?

S4 Spoiler I know its a cop-out but at least it's canon - there are infinite parallel universes, some in which Rick has a backup clone and some in which he does not. At least that's how I...

I feel like recently (starting in season 3?) Rick has been effectively omnipotent (e.g. Pickle Rick, the super hero club episode). The show is still entertaining but I kind of feel like, what's the point in anything they do? Why bother collecting death crystals to trade when you're a god? The emotional/personal stakes are still there but the suspension of disbelief that "maybe Rick will fail this time" feels broken.

I thought it was a fantastic episode. Laughed out loud several times. People are overthinking it, even here on Tildes. It's a ridiculous show with a ridiculous premise, just gotta roll with it....

Excellent quality imo, got me excited for the rest of the season.
