    On a more serious note, is there any data showing that political commentators have more clout as presidential candidates? Personally speaking, if I ever hear someone announced with that title, I instantly tune out. "Political commentator" is perhaps the most useless job ever invented. As much as I dislike social influences, at least they have to do something to keep their influence.

      It seems like it's a very easy job compared to what he was doing, earning money is nice, and having your name and face on TV at least increases name recognition a bit?
