I finished the Season 2 of the new Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. Shit, that was good! Very much like Season 1, it gets gradually better and better. The end of the season was… well, let's just say I had never seen "that trope" done well up until now. I won't spoil it in this thread.

I've also been continuing the old Sabrina as I mentioned in my previous post. Man does Penn Jilette steal the fucking show every time he is on screen; I wish he were in it more.
But also, there's some good jokes and I'll keep watching it… but urgh, it really shows its age sometimes. The utterly-shallow-mean-girl trope of every single "enemy" character is so incredibly bad it ruins a lot of the show. And it got super bad in the "geeks" episode from season 1 where… urgh, I won't even go into it, it's just bad.

And finally, I just finished watching the first episode from the new Ducktales (2017) and… wow, it's good. I had heard about the quality, and it's been on the watchlist for a while, but that first episode had me cracking up every few minutes. The jokes are good, the art is on point, the theme song is catchy as fuck, and the show is as enjoyable by kids as by adults. This is Gravity Falls all over again. Well, okay, probably not as good as Gravity Falls, but still it's really enjoyable!

I was a big fan of the original as a kid. I'm going to have to check it out.

Netflix suggested me the new Ducktales, and for once they were right. Of course the show gained points for nostalgia, but it’s great in its own right. A fine blend of innovation and tradition, with wonderful voice acting. David Tennant as Scrooge Mcduck is particularly delightful, as well as Kate Micucci playing Webby.

I still can’t differentiate the three nephews by name or personality, but at this point I would feel weird if I could. A personal tradition.

It really is great to have Tennant as his Scottish self voicing scrooge. An absolute delight. :)

Very close to the end of WestWorld S3. And I am just so very disappointed in this season. It is somehow worse than even S2. The pacing is just so bad this season, and having each episode focused on a different character just doesn't work well when you also have a massive story and limited number of episodes. I also really dislike the teleporting between locations, leave in a jet suddenly on horses? What, Why, Where? Overall I just have so much I dislike about this season, that I no longer even care about the show. And honestly don't think I will come back for S4.

We were looking for something short and funny to watch and came across Kim's Convenience on Netflix. It's about a Korean family that runs a convenience store in Toronto. The first episode started out slow, but picked up at the end. Subsequent episodes have been pretty funny. I think my spouse relates to it a little more as her father immigrated here from another country and she had to deal with some of the same parent/child issues as the characters in the show. I'm enjoying it as well.

It's got Joe Cole, from Peaky Blinders and A Prayer Before Dawn. The kid is great for these sorts of roles. He doesn't have that classic 'tough' look, but he plays them perfectly.

Outside of this, I'm finishing off Zero Zero Zero. I wanted to finish the book first, then give it a week or two. It's great. I really like Dane DeHaan. He's fairly consistent with his performances, even through a wide range of genres.

These are both worth a watch if you like gang / mob stuff.

Bosch came out last week or so and has presented another strong season. If you like the series, then I'd definitely suggest tucking into the entire Bosch universe from Michael Connelly. I don't think anybody has topped the first dozen or so of his books when it comes to this sort of crime novel. The last few have been good, but with a new character, it feels like the flow is broken up a little too much. Still good, though.

The Last Dance is a documentary about Michael Jordan and the Bulls that's out on Netflix. If you liked the ESPN 30-for-30s, this is exactly the same, just longer.
