I can only judge from seeing him on 8 out of 10 cats does countdown. About a year or so he was clearly unwell, he looked weaker and unwell and his voice was affected by something. He seemed to have improved though. I haven't read or heard speculation that he was seriously sick, let alone cancer.

Heartbreaking. He was perhaps the best QI panellist, and irreplaceable on 8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown. A legend of English comedy and truly a sad day.

Very sad to read of the passing of famed British comedian and panel show regular Sean Lock, who passed away from terminal cancer at the age of 58.

As a viewer I'm always interested to see which comedians other comedians genuinely laugh at. Sean had other contestants unable to control their laughter many, many times.
