Very sad to read of the passing of famed British comedian and panel show regular Sean Lock, who passed away from terminal cancer at the age of 58.

I think the next iteration of home automation will be the good one. It's a bit too fractured yet to really be anything worth investing in from my view.

Funny thing, though - Back in like... Well, somewhere in the 90s, I visited Cisco's campus on a field trip, and they gave us a tour and all, but there was a demonstration at the end of some very early Home Automation stuff. Simple things, like raising and lowering blinds and proximity based awareness for the garage door… It was neat.

A group of friends and I have been playing Deep Rock Galactic - this game is an honest hoot.

Incredible co-op, great procedural generation to keep things fresh, and a fun progression through leveling.

This is the best $20 I've spent in a decade on a game and I can't recommend it enough.

And one would think that using a Pixel would mean a more seamless experience... but this has not been the case for me on my 3XL. About once a week it decides I don't have Spotify installed anymore and is like "Boy you don't like listening to music much these days, do you?"

    Kind of irritating.

My little Polycule fam and I went and rafted down a very pleasant, very slow moving river on the little Island we live on! Another river user caught up to us (when we got stuck on a log) and demanded to take a picture of us for us, because apparently she and her partner just thought we were the cutest 😁

Other than that - it was a very lazy weekend and I cleaned up the house while my wife visited her friends on a smaller neighbouring island.

Work work. Which is fine - though today I got to do something new and took over for our dispatcher. Usually I'm a Level 2 Ticket Closer but our dispatcher got sick and the other usual replacements were already booked up doing stuff all day - so that was kind of fun! Monotonous, but nice to switch it up a bit.

Started playing Forza Horizon 4 for the first time - I quite like that. Tried to play Flight Simulator but the launcher is a hot mess right now - so I shall just wait on that one.

Trying to set up appointments with a new doctor and got a back adjustment yesterday. I'm a bit sore now but that may also be from standing in the kitchen for so long doing a deep-clean on the fridge.

And I happened to enjoy it more than any of the Bethesda IP's (Case - I've never finished any of the Bethesda titles ALTHOUGH -- I put more time in to them....) . I thought the characters were more fun, I liked the combat more, and I enjoyed the story more. I really felt like this was one of my top games recently and one of the few I've bothered to finish in a decade.

Ticket-To-Ride, while fun, is a lot more fun in a nice air-conditioned building :P

Other than that, was just a relaxy weekend. Cleaned up my truck to sell it and started looking for a new vehicle.

I've been enjoying things like the Beyond Meat burgers - though honestly they're no better for you than traditional meat, but definitely better for the environment. I think a lot of people jumped on that bandwagon thinking it was also a healthier alternative to meat - it's not.

I've been maintaining a largely pescatarian diet for some time now - trying to do something about my egregious cholesterol. It has helped a lot, though! As well as regular short walks. Generally though I do maintain a fins+feathers diet (poultry and fish) but lean toward the fish more often than not.

It'll be good, I think, for everyone if we can curb our meat consumption.

I went all-in, too. Got myself the fancy light up magnifying glass to protect my wee little eyeballs from strain. Really handy!

I get up a little bit later and get to start my "Me Time" a bit earlier - to maintain some semblance of "Work is over now" though, I take the time I normally would have spent commuting (about 10 minutes) and go for a walk at the start and end of my day.

The bookending of my work day really seems to help me mentally.
