The squash taste was perhaps a bit more vegetal and less sweet than what I’m used to with butternut but it ended up suiting the curry and coconut flavor a bit better. You do need way more than two cups of liquid—I ended up using about 6-8 cups of water in total—and since it was all getting puréed I didn’t bother peeling the squash. The leftover squash seeds roasted up nicely and made for a good garnish. I also added lots of fun spices I had in the kitchen to taste. Overall a really cozy and easy recipe that’s also super customizable. Thanks for posting it!

Stay Tuned is my favorite interview podcast--Preet Bharara, a former US Attorney, has some incredible guests on and has a fascinating outlook on current political news.
More Perfect is another podcast from the Radiolab team and examines landmark Supreme Court cases. Really interesting stuff and fantastic production value. My only complaint is that it goes a bit slow sometimes.
I'd also throw in Slow Burn from Slate which goes over Watergate bit by bit from the break-in to Nixon's resignation. Not only is it really great storytelling, but the whole Watergate scandal is an incredibly important piece of American history that most people aren't very informed about. Highly recommend.

The current plan is to take some classes at my local community college next semester to get some credit and a good enough transcript that I can use to transfer to a better university.
At the time I just wanted to move away from home, and I had good enough standardized test scores that I could get into most universities, so I chose the farthest major city I could get to without crossing an ocean. I thought getting away would be an adventure and I would figure out what to do once I got there, but the loneliness and stress got to me in no time. That turned into low class attendance and bad grades, which turned into more stress, which turned into worse grades.
The same thing happened in high school, but I was ignoring most of the warning signs just because I was eager to get away. And I'm a good enough tester that my bad high school grades didn't really matter anyway.
The last few months were okay for me mentally since I was in a relationship that was working really well. But by that point the damage was done.

Take Care is a fantastic song as well and really closes off the album well.
Listening to the album in full is the only way to listen to it. I can't just put on one song at a time.

I know a fair number of moderators on reddit who were good posters who abused their mod privileges.
That being said, I think some form of a feedback loop (separate from trust) is important for encouraging good discussion. I'm not sure of the best way to implement it, but if there's one lesson to be learned from reddit it's that a score-based karma system can quickly devolve into gaming the system. Maybe a tier-based system would be better for users.

It's been fascinating and heartbreaking at the same time seeing the community's response to both the Castile shooting and the Jamar Clark shooting which happened a little bit prior to Castile's. On one hand you have community-led events like this one at the MIA, and on the other you have (in my view) complete inaction by the governments of the Twin Cities to rectify structural problems in both police departments.
I'm hopeful that the two new mayors we elected last year will step up (especially given that the new Mayor of St. Paul is black and has spoken publicly about his experiences with the St. Paul PD), but I'm still skeptical that any police officer here who's been charged with a crime will have a guilty verdict anytime soon. As long as they say their life was threatened, a jury will acquit them. Combine that with a lack of deescalation training and you have a force that looks at lethal force as one of their first options. It's a tough problem that doesn't have an easy solution.
If anyone is interested in the trial of Jeronimo Yanez and the incident in general, I'd check out MPR News's pocast 72 Seconds which goes into virtually every facet of the shooting in pretty incredible depth.
Take a look at Kenji Bunch, a violist and composer who writes interesting pieces notably for scordatura viola (non-standard tuning). His music draws from folk and fiddle music but is still quite rooted in the classical tradition. Here’s a Spotify link to one of his albums and in particular check out “Until Next Time” and “The 3 Gs”. I am a violist in music school right now and playing his music has been more fun and rewarding than most of the standard repertoire.
