Not sure why, but I've been thinking about Ghost in the Shell lately and feeling the itch to watch the movies and SAC again. I remember liking SAC because of the aesthetic, animation, characters, action, etc. but I distinctly remember not really understanding what was going on at some points, so you're not alone, maybe we're both thick? haha

This was a long time ago though, so I'm excited to watch it again and see if I understand more this time around.

'95 is absolutely one of my top movies ever, your review made me excited to watch SAC, seeing you rate it so similar to the movie.

I also finished reading the manga a couple of weeks ago (GitS1, I still have 1.5 and 2 pending) and that definitely flew over my head more often than not. It did have some very cool concepts and the art is amazing.

If you've read Piranesi, did you like it? Trying to decide if I should commit to Norell or not haha

Sorry, I thought you were replying to me and asking about examples for the protests!

It's been happening non-stop once a week for the last 8 months now, so pretty common. News from back in March were already mentioning how the protests had been happening for 11 weeks
    https://www.bbc.com/news/av/world-middle-east-65004993

Some more links, if you google "Israel protests Netanyahu" you'll find loads of news articles about it, with all the different dates from these last 8 months

    https://www.reuters.com/world/middle-east/israeli-protesters-keep-pressure-netanyahu-after-judicial-turmoil-2023-07-29/

    https://www.theguardian.com/world/gallery/2023/jul/25/thousands-in-israel-protest-against-netanyahus-judicial-overhaul-in-pictures

I obviously have a bias. I've met a lot of Israelis through my partner (Family and friends), and since we wouldn't have any interest in associating with far-right people, most of my experience is with people critical of the government, so you could say I have confirmation bias... But still, 8 months of non-stop protests makes me think most Israelis are not happy with the situation at all. I can't imagine my country protesting for 8 months in a row

My partner has Israeli family and was there a couple of weeks ago and saw the end of one, she said it was massive. It's happening in several places too, Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Caesarea, etc.

    Hi!
I'm planning a big trip to Korea (Month-long), and have most of it planned out already. The only big thing I have left is where to stay in Jeju Island.
For context, we'll be staying in Seoul for two weeks before Jeju (working remotely, not so much of a holiday) and doing some evening trips, and day-trips. Jeju is our first stop after Seoul, and we'll stay there for a week (6 nights).

We're trying to organize Jeju so that we have the first half of it be more hiking oriented, and the second half more beach-y and relaxed.

So far we're leaning towards staying in Seowigpo for 3 nights and then go somewhere in the north. Main names we've seen recommended for the north have been Hamdeok or Aewol, but we're open to suggestions.

So yeah, any advice on where to stay, what to do, etc. is very welcome!

I think Annihilation, the first book in the series, is probably my favorite book. Such a weird atmosphere to it. I remember reading it in a couple of days getting completely sucked in, and immediately buying the second and third books even before I finished the first.
I really thought the story was done in book three and that we wouldn't be getting any more books in that setting, so I'm supper happy the author decided to tell more stories in that world

Downside is that I still don’t really like their previous albums that much, so I can’t even listen to them while I wait for the new album…

It might not be the easiest for a newcomer, though. I was confused by some of the characters (I wasn't sure who was who for a while), but other than that it's really good and short-ish. The story isn't finished though, so bear that in mind.

And to throw a couple more in, I'll mention Black Hole, about a sexually transmitted disease that causes mutations, and Uzumaki, which is a manga by Junji Ito, very well known for his horror stories.

I'm just starting Death's End, the third part of Cixun Liu Three Body Problem trilogy.
I liked the first book (Three Body Problem), but it had some slow slouches that took me a while to get through. The end of the first book was amazing though, and made me jump to the second part (The dark forest) straight away. This one was amazing from start to finish, I'm looking forward to see how the story continues (And finishes) in Death's End... So far so good!
