They have now taken upon the mechanics of their former oppressors.

Not just now, this kind of stuff has been happening since 1948.

The police is currently run by an ultra-right major bigot who 90% of the people disagree with, but he is trying his damnedest to make the police into his own fascist army. In the process he is giving support to all sorts of racist, antidemocratic thuggish behavior from the cops.
Many former high ranking policeman have come out against him, but of course the shitty pigs in police who get off on power (like in most places) are using this opportunity to act on their worst impulses.
We can only hope they'll see the inside of cell walls before too soon.

Unfortunately, I've known people who use incidents like these as fuel for blaming Jews for the ills of the world. As an Ashkenazi American who is 100% against the current government of Israel but otherwise has no association with the country, I get nervous when posts about some shit happening in Israel pops up because it often devolves into antisemitism (as if most Jews have anything to do with the treatment of Palestinians-- I'm an American for fucks sake!)

Tildes is much more reasonable than reddit (as demonstrated in this thread) but on reddit I see some really disgusting comments whenever the topic of Israel comes up.

Reminds me of the uptick of hatred against Muslim Americans after 9/11.

Except when reddit goes out of its way to act, as when it deplatformed r/theDonald, reddit surfaces extremists and haters on many topics, as well as to be fair, kind, generous people. But as I'm sure you already know, antisemitism is woven into a lot of conspiracy theories, and the corporate social media platforms have been promoting such theories and other hate based content because it increases engagement, aka time on platform. (detailed in Max Fisher's book the Chaos Machine and other sources) Women have been faced with the red pill movement, Jordan Peterson, Andrew Tate and others becoming insanely influential.

What I find hard about this issue is that a lot of videos get posted about Israelian police officers / civilians beating up or harassing Palestine people. Yet there seem to be no protests or people actively speaking out.

If the vast majority would not approve I think people would actually do something about this. This makes me worry that the amount of people supporting this is a lot higher than we think.

My partner has Israeli family and was there a couple of weeks ago and saw the end of one, she said it was massive. It's happening in several places too, Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Caesarea, etc.

It's been happening non-stop once a week for the last 8 months now, so pretty common. News from back in March were already mentioning how the protests had been happening for 11 weeks

Some more links, if you google "Israel protests Netanyahu" you'll find loads of news articles about it, with all the different dates from these last 8 months

I obviously have a bias. I've met a lot of Israelis through my partner (Family and friends), and since we wouldn't have any interest in associating with far-right people, most of my experience is with people critical of the government, so you could say I have confirmation bias... But still, 8 months of non-stop protests makes me think most Israelis are not happy with the situation at all. I can't imagine my country protesting for 8 months in a row

If not for the fact that mysteriously, all 16(!) officer's bodycams had a "malfunction".

It's a little surreal seeing this happen around me while the world keeps going. I wake up for work every morning almost expecting some form of attack from one side, to the point where I'm not even horrified anymore.

And I am not associating you with this behavior, at all. We have abusive cops in the states also.
