I've worn minimalist shoes for about two years. I was able to go completely barefoot in the garden for several hours every day this summer. I don't try to convert anyone in my personal life, but I have been stung on the bottom of of my foot 3 times this year and I still won't give up going bare foot.

I am currently enjoying some Lamb Chopper (aged sheep milk cheese) made by Cypress Grove. It is too hot to cook today. I also have some Hermiston watermelon I cut up yesterday and a hardboiled egg on a plate with some a fresh garden tomato cut up with a pinch of salt. And a mug of water to round it all out.

A few days ago I tried making split pea soup from scratch. I was pleasantly suprised that it was so simple and delicious and not at all like the canned gloop of my childhood.

Edit: Food costs are so high these days I wanted to share that I found the cheese at Grocery Outlet, scored the watermelon at Winco and got the split peas from a local producer Palouse Brand. I think these might be west coast stores and brands, but I love to hear how people are finding flavor at a reasonable price point these days.
