DarkLight There isn't a viable alternative for people to flee to. Ultimately, the existence of reddit during the digg v4 debacle is what led to its demise. They also double downed when users were complaining about the redesign instead of listening.
Sadly that just doesn't exist now. Because of that I think the vast majority of users will stick around and this will all blow over in a few weeks.
Same is true for Twitter. If bluesky social was ready to open up signups soon, i think twitter would have lost a large percentage of its userbase. And that would have slowly killed it. Timing has to be just right and

DarkLight I'd be fine with that, if in the future it was allowed, but there should be some plan for it in place, since people are already expecting the ability since reddit has shown how valuable it can be....I'd be fine with that, if in the future it was allowed, but there should be some plan for it in place, since people are already expecting the ability since reddit has shown how valuable it can be. Has the admin discussed this in public recently? You are right though that with only 15,000 registered users it wouldn't make sense to do right now. Hopefully its an option for the future.

DarkLight Sure to an extent, but there has been limited growth since the inception of Tildes. DarkLight I don't think so. For one it is not trying to be a reddit replacement, and therefore don't think it can handle the type of community that reddit has. For example, communities here are limited to...I don't think so. For one it is not trying to be a reddit replacement, and therefore don't think it can handle the type of community that reddit has. For example, communities here are limited to what is already available which means only certain communities will find a new "home".

I'm curious to know what alternative you are using. So far the ones I've tried don't seem that great. Tildes is the most usable alternative imo.
