I've been playing Sea of Thieves with my Discord server. It's been a ton of fun, but it hasn't been without frustration. Since there are no PVE servers, everyone is against each other, and we were trying to do a tall tale (SoT's main story campaign) and after two hours of work, we were sunk and lost our story items by another player character and we weren't going to start it over again, we had lost 2 hours of progress because someone wanted to be a troll. Regardless, the game is so much fun now with so much to do it's insane.

Currently bouncing back and forth between bound by flame and the technomancer. BbF is great, the technomancer though, they went overboard with the skills and traits, should've been cut back a bit but otherwise excellent gameplay.

HL2 set the standard for video game physics from then on and the story was very well paced out, sure it wasn't the first game with in-game physics, but it did it so well everyone after had to emulate it in some fashion, not only that but the graphics still hold up today. The facial animations were a thing of marvel for their time and still look good today.

I've played nearly every Zelda game there is, and breath of the wild ranks as one of the worst for me. How could I think that you say? The dungeons/divine beasts are the worst dungeons I've ever played in a Zelda. They're simply the digital equivalent of a really shitty rubics cube. The shrines are also terrible, they are in no way a replacement for traditional Zelda dungeons and they only exist to pad out the gameplay. There was so much missed potential with this game it hurts, the weapon degredation, master sword running out of energy, hylian shield breaking, the ganon bosses essentially being the same enemy fought 4 times, the ending was absolute trash. Needing 5 heart pieces instead of the traditional 4 just to pad out the game is stupid, the korok seeds are terrible and pointless to an extent, especially since every weapon breaks anyway it doesn't matter how many weapons you can carry. I will say this, it's the best rendition of Hyrule graphically nintendo has created. I wish I hadn't purchased it digitally as it would instantly go back to a GameStop.

    SPOILERS

The ending was simply Zelda telling you "congrats! You beat Ganon, but do you even remember who I am?!" THE END. It was straight up lazy garbage. I get what they were trying to do, and they probably ran out of time at some point developing it, but my goodness BotW was just one giant missed opportunity after another and I wouldn't even put it on a top 50 list. Skyward Sword on the other hand had some of the greatest dungeons in all of the series, and yes motion controls aren't the greatest but regardless the story was excellent, the gameplay was excellent, the enemy was awesome with Demise, and come on, the origin of the master sword. Yes Fi was annoying at times but whatever, I easily overlooked that with so many amazing dungeons and locations. BotW is overrated garbage, and skyward sword is an underrated gem. BotW needs a few things to make it the greatest Zelda ever, cut back on the shrines and make traditional dungeons, take out the stupid and completely pointless weapon breaking system, whoever thought of that should be fired on the spot, cut the heart pieces back to 4 and balance the game for it again, create unique and interesting bosses again, and put more emphasis on the story, they were overthinking the gameplay and it showed. If they can do that for the sequel they have one of the greatest Zelda games in their hands, until then it's just hot garbage

Yup, I will be playing the outer worlds on PC GamePass when it comes out so I won't have to worry about the EGS nonsense. Even GTA is falling prey to the terrible AAA nonsense with GTA Online so they're not innocent by far. I am seriously looking into getting the Xbox Scarlett or PS5 and leaving PC gaming behind for a while if it continues down this path, at least Sony has games like God War and The Last of Us 2 that actually show quality and passion in the game.

Yeah I'm not sure what to think of the current landscape of gaming. A once cheap and harmless hobby has turned into a quick decline of consumer respect and deception based on the idea of chasing every penny. Is it worth shunning their once loyal fanbase to build a new one that's willing to dump thousands of dollars on loot boxes and faux-gambling mechanics that hinder base gameplay just to point you to shortcuts like xp boosters? For them, probably.

It's sick and bullshit, but what can we do when we have companies like epic games willing to swindle every dollar from a player's parents bank account so they can bend us over some more? I've started going back to older games, for example the re-release of final fantasy 12 is absolutely fantastic and highlights a time when games were games and not massive open world slot machines. Anachronox is a widely unknown turn-based rpg from the 90's that highlights early PC gaming frustrations but also highlights why those games were amazing. Half life 1 and 2, portal 1 and 2, platformers from the ps2 era like ratchet and clank and Jak and daxter, it hurts knowing that we probably won't get games like these anymore simply because they can't be monetized in the way publishers want, but hey they're still there and playable.

Google Stadia is a publisher's wet dream with the only thing a consumer needs is a $50 box and a controller and all they have access too is a video stream that can't be modded or patched by fans. No cheat engine to mod xp boosters into your inventory, perpetual DRM in the hands of Google, I'm sorry but that's scary.

I know this post is long, I know it's not necessarily going to be read, but your comment really hit home for me. Gaming is a staple of my childhood, and is a hobby that got me through so many hard times in my life, and now these shareholders want to ruin all the progress the industry has made all because they want a few more dollars in their bank account, it's just sickening.

It's not bad, it's a Gnome 3 fork, so of course you have all the pitfalls and frustrations with Gnome 3, but I feel like Budgie is basically what Gnome 3 should have been from the start. Performance in games is pretty good, desktop usability is really good, the raven status bar on the right-hand side is a nice touch, basically the Windows 10 action bar on steroids, and overall it's just a really smooth DE. I've been trying out a few, and I would really like to use KDE tbh, but it's just so terrible to use with Nvidia hardware that it's not worth the hassle, the screen-tearing is real and I don't want to turn on "fullcompositionpipeline" and kill my performance. Cinnamon is really good, but it's also a Gnome 3 fork, so again it comes with things like mutter being a garbage compositor, but overall I feel that Budgie is the better DE, uses fewer resources and feels incredibly modern. Pair it with Plank and you have an excellent alternative to the Mac OSX interface.

Linux really is gaining some traction. I just installed Ubuntu Budgie and it's been pretty great aside from the fact that when I generate an xorg.conf file with the Nvidia settings utility it sets my TV that I use as a monitor to a stupid refresh rate and I can't change it. Deleting the file works to resolve the issue but I can't turn on coolbits to manage my fan curve or OC on my 970 at that point. Been trying out different distros and DE's and I keep coming back to Budgie, it's basically gnome 3 with some custom extensions but works really well.

The problem being we simply don't know what tencent is doing with our data, and the fact is epic is using other launchers to steal our private information for their gain. This is absolutely not something we as consumers should just be okay with, it's essentially someone spying at you through your home window and seeing what products you use everyday then knowing that, turn around and buy up all the products in your area and sell them to you at enormous overhead for profit. It's not okay to steal a movie, or music, or a TV show, or shoplift from a supermarket, so why in the world is it okay for them to steal my personal information without my consent and use that information in ways they don't disclose?

I would advise any and all potential customers of epic to be very cautious and take this roadmap with a grain of salt. They are heavily in bed with tencent, regardless of if epic gives them data or takes order from tencent, everyone should understand one simple fact, not gathering 85 million user's behaviors and account activity as well as metadata is simply leaving millions of dollars on the table. Now ask yourself, if you were in their position and wanted to start a store and save face from shady business practices, would you find a way to give that data up without simply handing it over so you can say you don't give tencent access to your customer data? If it means millions of dollars in easy revenue, you bet I would. What makes you think epic is any different?

Any security minded individual should be VERY concerned with the data they are gathering and sharing. I don't want this, I understand some people do, but I don't. I can safely say if this is the future of gaming, then I will sadly have to walk away from that future. I'll be sticking with my gaming PC and low latency in-home streaming for the foreseeable future.

Edit: Also, this will be the beginning of "gaming/entertainment" specific internet service packages. Google knows this, Verizon knows this, cox, att, spectrum/time Warner, they all know this and I promise you Google was talking to them about deals before anyone else.

That's an understandable point of view, but it also sets a dangerous precedent. What if Google decides to ban accounts for using AdBlockers on Youtube, or Hulu decides to disable your account because you forgot to turn off your AdBlocker for one video? It's morally grey, and a hard thing to regulate, but IMHO it leans more towards the darker side of grey than the light. There is a reason that AdBlockers exist, because advertisement firms have abused their freedom of advertisements online to the point of an AdBlocker essentially becoming a digital condom for the internet. NoScript, Privacy Badger, UBlock Origin, everyone should be running at least two of these extensions in their browser at all times and willingly give ad-revenue to the sites that they feel deserve your traffic.
