    I keep going back and forth between depressed and productive. I think about things that I want to do and never get around to doing them. One thing I've always wanted to do is blacksmithing and I just don't have the motivation to do it. I'm also a musician and have wanted to record music but just don't have time. I tried game development, made some progress and had an idea for a platformer game about my cats and each cat had a different goal related to their personality and I got as far as creating pixel renditions of two of my cats and stopped. Mainly the game industry state ruined that prospect, so many people getting laid off and becoming out of work just seems pointless to get into that industry.

    I'm currently on lexapro and trying everything I can to get myself to a better mental state and really a more consistent state. The medication helps for sure and if I miss a couple days I can tell the difference. I think a combination of my self esteem and being overweight really hinders my motivation. I had a massive meltdown last Christmas

    I have a stable group of people to play DND with, and recently we've found a shared interest in the game where winds meet and that's been really fun. It helps to have that stable friendship with these people even though they're online on discord. My wife and I have been working on our relationship over the past year and we're closer than we've ever been so there are good things to focus on to counteract the bad.

    Only reason I have an Xbox these days is for those old 360 games that were never ported to new consoles. Call of duty 3 (seriously underappreciated game in the franchise), lost Odyssey, blue dragon etc. For everything else I have a switch 2 and PS5. While it's sad what's happening with Xbox, I can see a third party stepping in eventually.

    I have no problems with the ID verification, it's the AI scraping my server's chat logs that scares me. They're intentionally profiling my friends and family and it's absolutely unacceptable.

    My guess is they're saying it's a means to hijack other user's AI agents and use them for his own purposes which actually makes a lot of sense based on the behaviors of the creator and his X account. Most likely using this website as a means to hijack AI agents and use it for his "proprietary" AI platform as a means to circumvent token costs. How they would do this I'm not sure, but anything is possible.

The website itself is just...eerie and off-putting IMHO.

    I used to self host my own streaming service. Setup a jellyfin server on my own domain then use a free cloud flare tunnel to access it over the Internet. For the server I used vultr as a VPS, overall the cost came out to roughly $3 a month for the VPS. I tried to do it on one of their free servers but it just wasn't powerful enough to transcode the high quality audio.

    I'm not sure where to bring this up and I wanted an outside perspective. This may seem like I'm doing the same thing here but I honestly just want to know if anyone has any insight. The trend in talking about is the act of creating a reddit post in the form of a question. I've seen so many posts on Reddit popup that are just questions or screenshots/pictures with a question as the title.

    For instance in gaming subreddits I'll see a post with the title of something like "What do you think is the best game in X series?" And they will have a screenshot of what would be the perceived most popular game in a franchise like final fantasy or halo or something. This is only one example, I see so many questions constantly in my home feed.

    Is this some kind of concerted effort to train an LLM or is it simply some unspoken advantage that karma farmers use to drive engagement? Or am I simply just diving into conspiracy theories created by my own ignorance?

I'm very proud of what I made, but I ran into issues with scene loading and people tried to tell me I had to learn how to do asset instancing when I didn't know what that was after I already got it working in another project, that's when I was told I might not be cut out for it.

    With all the talk of layoffs and studio closures, I wanted to know what the opinions and general experience is like as an indie game dev. How viable is it, how successful can you really be with that career and what challenges can crop up?

    I started making my own game a while back and got extremely discouraged by the layoffs and technical hurdles I was running into, to the point where someone told me maybe I wasn't cut out for it on discord. This really killed my drive, and it would be awesome to hear about some success stories or even some struggles that you may have overcome.

    ProtonPass, it's free, integrates near seamlessly between mobile and web browsers (something I've constantly had problems with using Firefox's password manager) and you get the backing of a reputable security based company. I've tried numerous password managers from Google to keepass, I'm sticking with proton pass for the foreseeable future.
