People are freaking out over what Sony said, but you're 100% correct. New IP takes time to cook and people are impatient. My main theory on this whole situation is that Microsoft really threw a wrench in the entire gaming market with gamepass.

Sony was banking on live service to make up the difference but that's just not happening due mostly to how long it's taking them to make a live service game, now they've realized it's time to cut their losses and just make a few live service games instead of all of their l games being live service, and now we have a large gap of no first party games. I truly believe Jim Ryan was correct when he said publishers hate gamepass, and Microsoft knows this, so their just buying up the publishers to fill out gamepass.

December was terrible, I lost my dad December 2022 to colon cancer after a 16 year battle to which we say cancer cheated when my dad accidentally broke his back somehow. Had to be taken off his treatments because of it and it essentially killed him.

This always made me mad, like he would still be around if it weren't for that, but my wife is amazing and told me I've been really grumpy for the past few months, and it was because I'm angry at that whole situation. I was taking it out on everyone else when it wasn't anyone else's fault.

In 2024 I've decided that the anger just isn't worth holding onto, and I've since been really happy the last couple of weeks. Ive started looking into game development on Godot and I'm really trying to find a meaningful use of my time in a field I truly love, video games. Hopefully this continues and I can make something of it someday.

I had a buddy that also had weird problems right after installing valorant. Things like check disk scans on startup (didn't happen before valorant), and weird network problems.

I've ditched Windows for the most part, my only reason to have a Windows install is for GeForce now of all things because the windows and Mac apps are they only way to play at 1440p 120fps and higher. It's an absolutely stupid reason to have windows installed, but until nvidia adds support for those features to a web browser, I can't switch over 100%.

Currently reading through the stormlight archive from Brandon Sanderson. I started with Mistborn, liver the original trilogy so much that I really wanted to read stormlight because it's really his main cosmere project and I've heard nothing but good things about the series. I really haven't read a book series like this since college over a decade ago with the legend of drizzt series, but the characters of vin and Elend, with sazed thrown in was an excellent mesh of character building. The original Mistborn trilogy really drew me in and I just want to dive into the main chunk of the cosmere universe with Stormlight.

Music is my main creative outlet and I'm familiar with ardour already. I actually donate to them regularly since their stuff is always really well made and free to compile.

Okay so I'm at a point where I'm fed up with enterprise IT as a career and I'm looking into indie game development. Obviously not dropping my job to do this, but how do you even get started in this area if you have absolutely no experience? It's been my dream to just make games even if they're indie games, and I have no idea where to start.

I've been daily driving endeavourOS for a while, before that I was using Nobara but I've never had a great experience with Fedora. The only reason I have windows on a separate drive is for GeForce Now, because the windows and Mac apps are the only apps that support 1440p 120fps. Nvidia really needs to add support for 1440p 120fps to browsers.

You have to REALLY love this game to subject yourself to that kind of punishment. It's not like going from 1-60 is a single day affair, it can take weeks if not months if you're not playing it constantly.

Considering I've only ever really watched anime on toonami in the 90's early 2000's, the moments that stick out to me:

    • Trunks being revealed as a Super Saiyan. Up until that point Goku was just hyped to the roof as the legendary super Saiyan, then this kid pops up and turns Frieza and king cold into sushi.

    • Obviously when Goku goes super Saiyan for the first time.

    • When Heero pilots the Wing Zero for the first time and the zero system almost takes over was awesome. The entire rest of the series with his character is just him trying to understand how it works and control it to be the ultimate Gundam pilot. Gundam Wing.

    • Outlaw star, when Gene Starwind uses the black hole caster shell. He knew the stakes, the enemy knew the stakes, and he still had the balls to shoot it so he could save his friends.
