Me and my wife both saw something recently that sparked a memory of sugar water and we couldn't believe the other knew of it. The conversation went soemthing like this:
"oh man, you remember that song from the Michele Gondry music video collection?!"
"what? Who?.. I remember it from Buffy"
    "Buffy...?"

Oh man I'm so glad I'm not the only one who remembers this one. It's always crickets whenever I bring it up. Also you're right, flying rocket punch was pretty badass at the time.

Robot Jox is a terrible 1989 dystopian futuristic film where the world issues are not settled by war, but rather by one on one combat with giant Gundamesque robots. Russia is the bad guy, the acting is terrible, tons of cliches, bad plot and shit effects, but I God damn love that movie. Almost no one I've ever talked to has heard about it.

Solarbabies is a 1986 film, also post apocalyptic dystopian future. The world has run out of water, there's apparently no parents and all kids live in a dessert prison like camp. They play a future variant of lacross against each other in gang like nomadic teams. Lucas Hass discovers an alien orb (think locnar rip off from heavy metal) and their quest to free themselves and restore the earth's water resolves in epic fashion... Everything about this movie is disjointed and priced together in editing but again I love this movie so much and no one knows about it.

I have digital copies of both is anyone really wants see, just message me.

I was sitting in a waiting room this morning with the audio off just admiring the technique and workflow. I was not until hours later when I plugged my headphones in that I realized this wasn't just an ASMR soundtrack... Holy fuck, this videos stock went up like 50 points!
Brad pit in snatch meets Lego batman. This was almost as momentous as the day I realized the primitive technology YouTube channel has stellar subtitle tracks detailing everything happening on screen.
You have made my day with this video sir, thank you.

I don't know if this is ridiculous or genius. I often scroll though plex endlessly weighing options, but I also hate coming in half way through a movie. I've never used plex dvr so not entirely sure how this would look from a ui perspective. Is there a menu akin to cable TV? Either way I've bookmarked this for interest. Thanks for sharing @trebory6

I think our first family pc was windows 95 based but commander keen was a staple for me and by brother. We got a disc called game empire from incredible universe which was a collection of freeware/shareware and demo games. It was endless hours of fun that probably should of been spent elsewhere, but what else are a couple suburban kids supposed to do in 1997?
Some of our favorites were catacombs 3D, secret agent, and Blake stone, and for whatever reason we insisted saving everything to the windows "my briefcase" folder which is nostalgia in itself.

I sub the seasoning for a premade rub I use often. Also I throw some Balsamic glaze in with the sweet potatoes. Anyway it's super hard to mess these up or overcook so as previous poster said

I'm a cg artist who's wordobe is almost exclusively flannels, jeans, and old band t shirts. When i get hone and walk in the door my pants barely stay on 5 mins. I hate having to dress up for anything BUT... My wife gave me a fancy pocket watch for our wedding so when I do have to dress up, I have a custom 3 peice suit I pair with a silk pocket square and my pocket watch with the chain looped from my vest pocket to the button fold. I feel absolutely amazing for the night, but the next day it's right back to caveman attire.

Came here to vote for interstellar, but ecstasy of gold is one of my absolute favorite peices of instrumental music. I didn't even think of it as a soundtrack even though it's obviously scored for a quite famous scene, so you're right, morricone for the win.

Some great orchestration in the whole dollars trilogy, but there was also some great work in the score for hateful eight which I think might of been his last original score.

That's not a bad idea honestly but I would much rather not have to rely on YouTube. I used to host home movies in private on YT before I built a plex server, but if the reddit fiasco has taught me anything its don't rely too heavily on entities with corporate intrests. That's not to say plex doesnt, but at least it's my own hardware so I can take my mp4 and srt and go elsewhere if I go that route as you also suggested.

I've never tried to make my own subtitles but I assume it can't be that complicated. Any idea on a utility to sue for this? Would be great to be able to have custom positioning like I see soemtimes with European subtitles.

I recently digitized some old home movies from my grandparents and looking through the film I realize I recognize almost no one. This got me thinking, I should go through this with my mother to help me identify family members as she's probably the last person who knows who anyone is.

Obviously I can just make a document with notes ex: 2:53 screen right, great uncle john"
But I'm hoping there's a more elegant solution in which I can keep info with the file and not some auxiliary document that dosent live in the same place.

I could just dump all that info into Metadata but that's maybe the lowest quality solution.
The xray function of Amazon prime video is the example of the best solution in a perfect world. (if you don't know, when you pause or bring up the context menu on prime video, there's a bar that identifies everyone one scene with a matching headshot)

I actually looked into it and there's an API that amazon uses for this called "RecognizeCelebrities" and uses images to train the program to recognize faces and populate it's menu. I'm not sure if it's open source but even if it was, it's over my level to use it practically I think.

The last option I can think of is using a video markup platform like frame.io but that's not really a long term solution.

    Any ideas?
