I have started to use DDG, but Google search is a really hard habit to break. I've been reflexively going to Google for any question that pops in to my head for years and years now... ever since I stopped using Hotbot, it feels like.

I have a custom domain with Gmail as I used GApps when it was free for personal use. How is Protonmail's spam tech? I literally never see a spam email in my Gmail inbox and that's pretty impressive.

I've been using non-Google password managers (KeePass + Dropbox/Drive) for as long as I can remember. I've never trusted my passwords to something out of my control.

I genuinely don't think any of those YouTube alternatives even come close to being a good substitute. YouTube is really in a league of its own at the moment.

    Appreciate the reply.

It was never the #1 social network, but for a while it started to find it's own little niche. Sadly, that wasn't enough for Google so they pushed it, HARD.

It feels like more and more Google services are shutting down. In the past I was happy to use everything Google released. I loved everything about them. Over the years that's really changed. Reader was a big loss and signalled the changes to come.

If I didn't prefer Android over iOS and love YouTube, I would probably be switching away from Google right now. Unfortunately, the alternatives just don't quite cut it yet. I just wish Google would let me pay them for a service rather than gamble on ads paying the bills and closing things down when they don't.

I've been reading Excession by Iain M. Banks. It's not my first time reading it and it certainly wont be the last! I really hope I find some books that are better than the Culture novels. I love them so much and it's heartbreaking that there will never be any more.

The film I watched last was Swiss Army Man. The only film where a farting corpse has brought a tear to my eye!
