What have you been watching/reading this week?
2 AM Edition
Anyway, what have you been watching/reading this week?
Feel free to talk about something you saw that was cool, something that was bad, ask for recommendations, or anything else you can think of.
If you want to, feel free to find the thing you're talking about and link to its Anilist, MAL, or any other anime/manga database you use!
I can actually participate in this this week since I've done nothing for the last 2 weeks except binge Hunter x Hunter up through the Chimera Ant Arc and have only a few episodes with before I've finished it. It just keeps getting better and better and I'm very sad that I'm actually going to not have this thing as a daily presence in my life anymore, at least until I decide to re-watch it or read the manga as well.
I'll latch on this week and just mention that I've been keeping up with you in the manga and went through the Chimera Ant arc just recently. The anime was already one of my favorites in that space, but I guess it's also now my favorite manga.
Keep watching after that if you can. The election + Alluka story arcs are fantastic as well.
I've now watched up to the last episode which I'm slightly holding off on because I don't really want it to end, but the election + Alluka story arc might have been my favorite arc of the show, even over the Chimera Ant Arc. It was a lot shorter but I absolutely loved the Zoldyck family interactions, Alluka as a character, seeing some politics in the Hunter world, and some other things. It was an awesome trip.
I agree, but it's definitely the stuff before it that made it so worthwhile.
The character development in HxH is soulcrushingly good.
Oh it's so fantastic. Thats why im a bit sad they don't let everyone see to the end.
HxH is so lovable you'll get more people to buy it.
I'm about halfway through the Grand Blue anime, which is a really great adaptation of the manga, in my opinion. For airing shows, Steins;Gate 0 just wrapped up, which I found disappointing, but still decent, and Shingeki no Kyojin S3, which is amazing (the latest episode got delayed though, sadly).
Also, we should consider specifying anime/manga in the title of the post, as there always seems to be a few people who don't notice that it's an anime/manga thread.
Yeah, I noticed that there were some lost people here and I'm probably gonna try to come up with the least ugly way to add "anime and manga" or something to the post title.
I’m watching Grand Blue right now as well. IMO it’s pretty funny, nothing spectacular though. I’ve never read the manga, but I’ve been told it’s better.
I'm watching Jojo's bizarre adventure currently.
I'm still working my way through Stardust Crusaders, but decided to start following Vento Aureo anyways. How are you liking it so far?
A couple more episodes of the Junji Ito Collection, up to ep5. Loving the weird stories and terrifying imagination of the creator.
Darling in the FRANXX through ep5 also. Seems like there's some interesting plot beginning to develop gradually. Feels like a show that will fluctuate between background watching and attention grabbing.
A Place Further Than the Universe ep5. This show remains consistently good, sweet and funny to watch, really liking it. (4 girls going to Antarctica)
(Holy crap Crunchyroll finally added HTTPS support apparently. In addition to their new HTML5 player dropping Flash.)
Further Than the Universe is a treat. You’ve inspired me to rewatch!
I found Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood on Netflix randomly and I fell in love with it. They don't have "seasons" for it on Netflix but I'm on part 3. I don't want to spoil anything for anyone who hasn't seen it or isn't as far as me so don't read any further if you aren't like 30 episodes in.
What's currently happening is Ed just used a portal to transport himself, Envy and the Asian looking guy whose name I can't remember out of gluttony's stomach. Ed went through the truth again and saw Al's body. Al (in the armor and with Gluttony) is about to walk to the door to meet what seems to be their father and the creator of the homonculi.
There is far more cloak-and-dagger murder mystery than I expected and I love them for it. The action is spaced between really gripping emotional segments so it isn't overdone, and everyone gets their cool setpiece. Wasn't sold on Colonel Mustang until he carved the transmutation circle into his hand and roasted Lust. That scene was incredible. I'm also still torn up about the death of Maes Hughes. One of the better animes I have seen. I recommend it highly.
Y’all, Seishun Buta Yarou wa Bunny Girl-senpai no Yume wo Minai had a surprisingly top tier first episode. It’s pacing was just right, fitting lots into its first 25 minutes but at the same time gave the characters time to exist and feel human. The dialogue is snappy and the premise sounds interesting - i’d really recommend everyone check it out.
I’ve just finished watching AICO and the show had way more emotional impact on me than I assumed it would.
This is the ~anime group just fyi. Lot's of people make that mistake though.
I blitz Komi-san and started reading Hakoiri Drops which is kinda ehhh.
I rewatched Inferno Cop which is still great. I tried Konasuba but I couldn't get into it, I found it annoying.
I've been reading Excession by Iain M. Banks. It's not my first time reading it and it certainly wont be the last! I really hope I find some books that are better than the Culture novels. I love them so much and it's heartbreaking that there will never be any more.
The film I watched last was Swiss Army Man. The only film where a farting corpse has brought a tear to my eye!
This is the ~anime group just fyi. Lot's of people make that mistake though.
Oh, my bad. My first post and it's in the wrong place :/ Off to a good start...
No problem at all! Tildes is still a work in progress.
I'm about half way through book 5 of the "long earth" series by Terry Pratchett and Stephen Baxter. The only book series I'll ever have completed. I love it!!
Ah hahaha! :D I'll see myself out :)
