If you find one half more interesting than the other then it may just be a book that's not for you, it keeps the dual POV till the end, even throwing in a third later on. I'm very familiar with Murakami so I know he likes to mix the mundanity of everyday life with the outlandish and supernatural, interesting events do start to happen in both POVs but there's also a lot of down time to develop the characters and world. Honestly if you're not into it so far maybe push on till the end of book 1 or just leave it.

I had a colleague tell me she thought he had an issue with women, I am not inclined to agree. I've read all his novels except Commendatore and most of his short stories and he writes his women just as he writes his men, in a variety of roles. He does have far less female POVs but as he is a guy himself that's fair. If most of the stories he wants to write are from a Male POV that only makes sense.

I have been "reading" Crown of Midnight in the #2 in the Throne of Glass series, I was very into it but I've not been reading much at all as I tend to commute by Bike more now and have not had the impulse whilst at home or when relaxing outdoors. Fire and Blood has been resting heavily on my bookshelf for a few months now without even being cracked open, I've also left the third book of IQ84, The Book Thief and Speaker for the Dead half read, bookmarked and abandoned.

I've been rewatching High School of the Dead knowing what I'm looking for from the show and have been loving it, I originally watched it wanting something like season 1 of the walking dead but taking it as more of a B movie approach has found me enjoying it far more.

I've started reading Kage no Jitsuryokusha ni Naritakute only seven chapters out so far but it has been very entertaining, it twists the isekai OP MC formula and twists it just enough to squeeze a few laughs out of me a chapter.

Also finally catching up Jojo's latest season just before it finishes and I'm so happy I left it to binge, absolutely amazing as expected. I think I'll finally seek out the manga.

Season 2 was what really hooked me on Jojo's, the protagonists get way more interesting. Season three cemented Jojo's with having some of the best finale's in the business.

This is pretty class except for one arc that gets dragged on for a bit too much and resolved exactly how it should've 3 or so chapters into it. It's quality teen fluff.

No one would be talking about this movie, which will be just as uninspired as the other remakes, if there wasn't a black girl cast as Ariel. Stirring up a conversation that's got more to do with the present political climate rather than the quality of the actual film is exactly what Disney wants.

The conversation around this casting shouldn't even be engaged as all it does is give Disney free promotion for what at a surface level is a rather uninspired cash grab of a film and will have people build stronger feelings for or against it. I highly doubt it will even be worthy of getting upset/defending.

No one has been raving about how great the Disney remakes are, no one was interested in the next one. No one is going to watch it other than people with kids and the kids won't care much. This is pure bait.

Comedy poking fun at Trump has been saturated since 2016, honestly the guy makes it almost too easy. I'm not surprised going that way lead to a tepid response.
