Comment on Daniel Ricciardo to make shock AlphaTauri F1 return, Nyck De Vries out in ~sports.motorsports
PitBullCH Not a surprise about De Vries - he was well known to not be up to F1 standard. Great to see Ricciardo back - I suspect if he does well (within the limits of what the poor AlphaTauri permits) then...Not a surprise about De Vries - he was well known to not be up to F1 standard.
Great to see Ricciardo back - I suspect if he does well (within the limits of what the poor AlphaTauri permits) then Perez might be out on his arse at some point given he is not supporting Max nor the team well currently, and it is all self-inflicted.

Comment on Evernote, the memory app people forgot about, lays off entire US staff in ~tech
PitBullCH Could never get into Evernote. Have to use OneNote at work and it’s just another MS clusterf*ck app. End-to-end encryption is a must for me, with cloud sync - and needs to be Mac / IOS compatible...Could never get into Evernote.

End-to-end encryption is a must for me, with cloud sync - and needs to be Mac / IOS compatible at least.
Standard Notes and (more recently) NotesNook are my current goto apps.

Comment on How Microsoft's ruthless employee evaluation system annihilated team collaboration in ~tech
PitBullCH Sadly this is still in use in many companies globally, though most use annual rather than quarterly assessments. And yes - it is a very bad mechanism producing good results only for the beancounters.Sadly this is still in use in many companies globally, though most use annual rather than quarterly assessments. Asus has very good ones including AMD CPUs 😉
I’ve had a few of the cheaper Chinese brands e.g. Topton - be careful as other than the named CPU they tend to use very cheap unreliable components (SSD, RAM, coolers etc) to keep the prices down, and not only are they prone to failure but a nightmare to get replaced even under warranty.
