I'm definitely very fortunate to live right outside of Baltimore. We have a great Hardcore scene. Bands like Tripper, Doubt, and Consumer Culture are some of my favorites from the area. We have a ton of good venues between Holy Frijoles, Zika Farm, and Fort Armistead.
I definitely feel like Hardcore is getting more popular. Turnstile is doing well and Soul Glo and Knocked Loose were at Coachella last year. I really hope that they continue to be successful. It's definitely a good time to be a fan.
The last thing I would like to say to anyone who wants to get into Hardcore/ wants to know more is just go for it! The community is really cool and accepting. It didn't really click until I went to my first show but now I'm hooked.

They are a little bit decisive to some people though. It was really sad seeing the hateful comments they were getting for their set.

Most of my time has been spent remaking my Linux User Groups website. I've been taking a very web 1.0 approach to my personal site and have been trying my hand at bootstrap for the LUG site. It's cool using php to add on the header and footers on for me. I cant wait to roll it out. It's going to actually work on mobile and look better than the old site.

I think what a lot of people don't get is there is a lot of history surrounding movies that dramatically impacts how they are made, their reception, and how films after are made and received too. To strip that away that context makes for a incomplete picture.
I like another commenter's mention of "objective" game reviews too. It seems like most people who complain about this either don't get art or don't like all the context being presented. Either way it's very lame at best or disingenuous at its worst when people hold those types of views.

It was probably my favorite film I saw in my film history class.
From using traditional strike songs to highlight the issues Knopple covers in the movie to how she really highlights the disparity between the workers and mine owners she does an amazing job.

Also really big props to the people who actually reverse engineered the network and brought it back up! As a computer science student I really wish I had opportunities to do stuff like this but would never know where to start.
I would love to buy one but it's a bit out of my price range at $100. Luckily my local computing museum is getting two in. I can't wait to pop in to try them out.

Their second album, Painful, has to be a contender for my favorite shoegaze album. I got into it through I Heard you Looking. Ira Kaplan takes such a simple idea and makes it amazing. It's terribly easy but fun to play on guitar. That and tracks like From a Motel 6 and Superstar-Watcher are phenomenal! I can't recommend it enough, much to my friends and family's disappointment.
Really anything off of Matador records in the 90s is great/ shoegaze adjacent. Guided by Voices, Dinosaur Jr., Pavement, etc. are all great. As much as I love grunge it's sad that most people overlook indie rock from this era. There is a ton of great bands!
Ah, I was not expecting to see a story about my local computing museum today! This is really cool. They are good people. I'm glad that they spent the time to help get two people exonerated! Between this and the NABU's, I need to pop by in the near future. I will happily shill the system source/bloop museum any day of the week
