PS2: Ico and to a greater extent Shadow of the Colossus. Katamari Damacy.
NES: Fire and Ice, a cute little puzzle game.
It's tough to really recommend games without knowing your preferences and experience. Do you like spooky games? Silent Hill series on PS1/2 or Fatal Frame on PS2.

Not everything is going to eat you but it's a safe assumption to start from. Following the yellow thing is the best way to start, while paying attention to the way other creatures behave. Where Noita does material interaction Rain World simulates an ecology (and you're in it, near the bottom of the food chain)

And once you get your head around the movement (ignoring the weird movement tricks that aren't necessary, especially for the first playthrough) it will feel more fluid.
But it's ambitious and beautiful and full of hidden complexity, fully worth the effort in my opinion.

There's good arguments against eating octopus, and pigs are pretty much even with dogs but good luck making a dent there as long as the industry maintains leverage on legislature. (End meat subsidies!)
Preservation of culture doesn't trump everything and whaling is low-hanging fruit.

Double agreed. Your takes are reasonable, even if I have a much lower opinion if Becker's ideas.
• Talking about heavy topics is not wallowing in despair.
It's not just talking about them, its the supposition that this death anxiety is a ubiquitous driving force and the idea that we are homeless in the natural world and the inevitability of it all.
I think about death in a personal sense. I am not ignorant of mortality, mine or otherwise. I've lost friends and family to suicide, to cancer, to heart failure, to age. I remember their lives, their impact, and mourn the future without them. But death brings me only a sense of loss, there is no calling void there nor a hope for a beyond. Thus very little reason to contemplate death (as a concept) beyond the practical.

What resonates with one person passes completely by another; I never suffer from existential thoughts and I scoff at all this natural law talk. I feel "fully at home in the world."
We might be the only animals on Earth aware of our impending demise, conceptually. I say might because there is much we do not know about cetaceans amd elephants. I don't think that necessarily removes us from the natural experience.
I guess a lot of it feels like wallowing in despair? It's what I would expect from a clinically anxious or depressed mind, not the average human experience.
Nah we're big fucked. The kind of change we need requires like two full generations of constant effort, starting with the dismantling of the right-wing media apparatus. And that's a big first step. (We might get lucky and benefit from a schism once the Christofascism gets extra fascist, but I will never bet on a religious majority having my best interests at heart.)
This is the fruit of the failed Reconstruction, centuries of not holding villains accountable and safeguarding the system against bad-faith actors.
