They did reply to someone else and I don't think their argument is particularly convincing, but others have chimed in so I'm leaving that alone.

Attacking rationalism as somehow undesirable of a repository of knowledge makes me suspect that you're mad that your edits in favor of ear candling or whatever keep getting reverted.

Gonna need an example there for the last claim, I've seen a lot of pseudoscience believers complain about an "agenda" that just happens to be the observable reality we all live in.

Thanks for the elaboration, it's nice to know specifics. There's only so much research and typing I can do on the can.

Why do we shy away from nudity? Christians. There's a long history of church-mandated censorship (think fig leaves) and those puritanical ideals have largely stayed in place over the centuries, at least for the mainstream. The US managed to be even more churchy and oppressive than the rest of the anglosphere, real professional pearl-clutchers here.

(Violence, and to a lesser extent murder, are definitely "normal and natural" though. We are far from unique in the animal kingdom in that regard.)

Pacific Rim vs Pacific Rim 2. The way they framed and "shot" the action was a big deal, and the failure to capture scale is one of the bigger reasons the sequel didn't work.

I hope they don't. It can definitely be improved but KCD did things that no other games even tried, it would be a real shame for them to drift away from what made it unique.

The thing with Noita is that beating what you think is the boss is more like finishing the tutorial. You're correct that there's more to it, and I recommend avoiding spoilers for as long as possible. Get good at going down first and messing with the wand system (you're gonna kill yourself a lot). When you can consistently handle the first couple layers then try going sideways. Or, if you're especially daring, try going up.

Also, angered the gods? Have fun with Steve.

This section strikes me as a bit odd.

"The widespread anemia from parasite infection in ancient Egypt meant they would have struggled to build these monuments using their own diseased workforce alone. They could only build the ancient Egypt we see today using imported labor, such as slaves captured during military campaigns."

The Egyptians were so weak with chronic illness they couldn't move big rocks around, but strong enough to capture and command substantial slave workforces?

Skinheads are still a broad-spectrum group (depending on where in the world you are), the neo-nazis haven't fully taken over. There's people who are just in it for the music (traditional skinheads) and SHARP (SkinHeads Against Racial Prejudice) has been active since 1987.

The only real issue the original has is that it's a PS1 game, requiring 20 year old hardware. (Or, like, an emulator.)

Definitely play Metal Gear Solid. The classics like Spyro and Crash Bandicoot are worth checking out. (Crash peaked at 3, Spyro peaked at 1 if you don't want to go for whole trilogies) Silent Hill is still spooky, Armored Core holds up, final Fantasy 7, 8, and 9 are all solid entries in the series, and if you never played Tony Hawk Pro Skater on anything else, it's an icon of the era. For some less commonly known stuff...

Tomba! Is a great 2D platformer with RPG elements. Quirky, charming, controls well.

Incredible Crisis is a very Japanese collection of mini-games that tell the story of a single day for an unlucky family.

Brave Fencer Musashi is my favorite "hidden gem". Published by Square, I think most people who are aware of it just wanted the Final Fantasy 8 demo disk it came with. It's an action adventure, you play as a legendary swordsman (child) summoned to save a kingdom under attack. It's loaded with puns, puzzles, memorable characters, many types of monsters, and it has really satisfying growth as you level up and find powerful equipment. It's a classic medieval fantasy aesthetic with an anime twist, and the reason I've always found the Zelda games to be over-rated. Might be nostalgia, but I think it's really, really good.

    Fried rice.

Onion, garlic, whatever other aromatics or tough veg in a large pan or wok with oil or butter. Sautee. If you're adding raw meat cook that here also, but not all the way because we aren't done.

Add soft or precooked veg, like frozen peas or corn or whatever is in fridge that you've been meaning to eat.

Add day-old rice. I like mine with soy sauce, fish sauce, sesame oil, chili oil, and I play around with spices. Salt, pepper, sesame seeds, make it your way.

Add pre-cooked meat or something like shrimp that cooks really fast. This is also where I clear a spot to scramble an egg or two and mix that in. Final taste test, plate up with some green onion or sriracha.

It's a great fridge-clearing meal, reheats well, easy to pack in healthy greens and legumes and such, and comes together in less than 20 minutes.
