This is better than I had hopes for initially when hearing that Netflix was making this show, considering how they’ve butchered some other properties I’ve liked such as Death Note and Cowboy...Man. This is better than I had hopes for initially when hearing that Netflix was making this show, considering how they’ve butchered some other properties I’ve liked such as Death Note and Cowboy Bebop. The cast members seeming to be really into One Piece, as well as Oda’s support, seemed to be good signs to me. I liked the teaser trailer when it came out, but still had some doubts about if the zany world of One Piece could really be translated well into live action. At the time, I was content that it didn’t look bad and that One Piece in general would get a lot more exposure. With this trailer having shown a lot more of the effort that seems to have been invested into the show, I’m genuinely excited to see it now.

SpoobityDoop Link ParentYes! Death Note was my first anime I could get through as well. Another friend recommended the original Fullmetal Alchemist to me and I got turned off it. As much as I enjoy the campier Godzilla movies in their own way, my favorite Godzilla movies are the ones like the original 1954 movie, The Return of Godzilla, and Shin Godzilla that took the monster seriously. Phoenixrises brought up the anti-war sentiment that had been behind the original conception of Godzilla, and I would say that’s a timeless message. This pivot back to the focus on human strife as the cause and effect of Godzilla is exactly what the franchise needs, in my opinion.
