Just bein funky in their own zone.

Tildes is such a solid codebase, there’s a lot of room for expansion (though it’s also great how it is).

I appreciate that you’re putting so much effort into your music video. It's rare that someone has such a definite vision, and devotes themselves to such high quality.

You can do pushups, go skateboarding, talk about movies, play basketball - and then tie it in with lessons.
To me, the real goal of teaching is to build creativity, concentration, and confidence.
Once those are equipped, the learning is instinctive.

One girl I tutored was convinced she was bad at math. She had zero confidence in her intelligence. Couldn’t even look at an equation.
Most of the struggling kids were that way...they weren’t really having a math issue, they were having a ‘self-belief’ issue.
Nurturing their authentic, rooted confidence...and then watching them bloom...that was the most fulfilling thing.

I am targeting a Debian 10 VM, via SSH.
Seems the challenge is aligning the ansible commands / configuration until everything is integrated (as your document shows).
A docker method would be beneficial. Were you attempting a Tildes install? (If so, how did it go?)
Has anyone successfully created an instance?

It seems there are two approaches:
-
target localhost in ansible for a loopback install (all on the VPS) - tweaking the ansible commands / configuration accordingly. ( <== That is what I'm trying now.)
-
target the VPS-IP from another machine, and configure ansible for that approach.
Which do you think is optimal?
Also - which playbook host-patterns are integral for a direct-VPS install (all, app_server, dev, prod)?
^ That might be self-evident, but I'd rather confirm up front (if possible).
I really appreciate your communication and willingness.

If I could walk in, do an interview, and prove competence - I’d probably start teaching next week.
But going back to school for a B.A. in education, doing an internship, getting the license - it could take years.
I wish it was simpler - I have a bachelors already (business). I could teach algebra to any 7th grader...
...for private tutoring, or coaching little-league, or Big Brothers Big Sisters - there are no prereqs. But to be a teacher requires so much more.
(I do understand why it’s standardized, and I respect the teachers who've gone through it.
I’m just saying I wish it was simpler, because teaching kids is FUN!)

Hi,
I would like to run a Tildes instance on a VPS, using a custom domain.
QUESTION:
Is it possible to install and serve Tildes directly on a VPS? (eliminate Vagrant / VirtualBox entirely)
Being a solo dev, it feels like Vagrant / VB adds excess complexity for little benefit.
-
note 1: I tried the Vagrant / VB install method (on an Ubuntu VPS), and hit some errors - all related to Vagrant / VB.
-
note 2: I found this 3-year old comment of Deimos’ instructions, though I'm guessing it's out of date, since the code has changed a lot in 3 years (salts, minions, etc).
If it IS possible to install and serve Tildes directly on a VPS - what is the best / simplest way to do it in 2022?
I will very much appreciate any ideas.

It is good that you don't blindly trust 'experts'...who knows what their motives are?
I enjoy your curiosity and careful thinking - those are great traits. Keep it up!

What if humans grow to be 9 feet tall, and cover 40% more distance with each stride?

- Bannister’s Belief eclipsed the opinions of closed-minded ‘experts’, who wrongly called it ‘impossible’.
The evidence - at the time - was:
-
Every prior human attempt had failed, including his own. (<== that was the data).
-
Doctors and scientists said he would die trying.
He did not agree that it was ‘impossible’.
His Belief was stronger than their evidence.
That is why he succeeded.

They were brave to study flight - and risk their lives to try - based on theories held by a small group of people.
...And when everyone else had failed or died <== (pretty hefty evidence to consider when calculating 'sufficient evidence').
To me - their belief far exceeded the evidence.
Thus, it is not 'wrong for anyone, to believe anything upon insufficient evidence.'
...Sometimes that is what makes a person heroic.

Hugo is pretty great. The 'live reload' feature helps with styling your site.
Then you just add text files (markdown) to the 'content' folder, and push to a git repo.
When you push to git, a new excerpt (and cover image) are automatically added on your site's home page.
And if you connect that git repo to Netlify, they'll serve it for free.
