I have heard many people call Bernie a communist, or at the very least a socialist, and I tend to disagree with them although I can't articulate very well why I disagree, and I guess it might come down to how one defines Socialism.

Unfortunately, I agree that it is very easy to take things out of context to help your argument. I feel that Silbern did a good job getting their point across without purposefully taking quotes out of context.

With our species advancing so quickly, and the technological singularity approaching, I feel like there should be much more alarm among us to make sure we can survive ever more complicated and advanced threats. As we become smarter, more serious existential threats can be created by smaller groups of people. A few scientists with the knowledge of pathogens can create designer super bugs that would be next to impossible to stop with our current technology. A physicist could be held at gunpoint to create a black hole generator, or a drug that can take over people's thoughts and actions, or an arsenal of nuclear weapons. The knowledge to create these things will be available to everybody as we become smarter and more advanced, especially when we start to merge with machines to enhance our own intelligence. Most people don't even realize that they probably have made the longevity escape velocity (if they're under 50 years old), so they don't think that these problems will affect them. If we can educate the masses of these problems then we might have a slight chance, but I highly doubt it. Excuse the rambling. :p

As far as I'm aware Musk is working on clean energy / solar power / battery tech / power grid solutions. Just because he is advancing EV technology doesn't mean he neglecting other aspects of the problem. It's not like Musk is working to improve coal-powered technology.
