    Definitely the unreleased 2008 version of Christmas in the Room by Sufjan Stevens. Especially relevant lyrics in these corona-lockdown-times. (The officially released 2012 version of this song has too much dissonance between the music and the lyrics, in my opinion. The 2008 music conveys the emotion of the song a lot better, to me.)

    Next to that, Sufjan Stevens has a lot more wonderful christmas songs:

    Seems like a good list of very reasonable things, a lot of which should be standard everywhere.

    However, can anyone enlighten me on how things like:

    Hire trans and non-binary content executives, especially BIPOC, in leading positions;

    Recruit trans people, especially BIPOC, for leadership roles in the company (Director, VP, etc.)

    are supposed to work? It does sound like a good goal, I think diversity is better for everyone.

    But let's say about 0.5% of people in the US identify as trans -- you'd statistically need 200 eligible applicants for a VP/leading/director role to have 1 eligible trans applicant. I doubt they have that much eligible applicants for these kinds of roles.

    Is the intention then that any eligible trans person that applies kind of should be given the job? And what if someone else is more qualified, even though they're not trans? Should they be passed over?

    How many should be hired? Should the amount of trans people in leading roles mirror the 0.5% in society? Should there be more? Let's say 10% of leading roles in a company are trans, are they then not over represented? Is that fair to non-trans people?

    I'm not sure how accurate "Our World in Data" is. At least for my country, The Netherlands, it doesn't seem to be correct.

    Our vaccination coverage is: 83.2% fully vaccinated, and 86.9% partly vaccinated, according to the official government website. That's based on 23.8 million doses having been administered.

    OWiD says it's 67.58% fully, and 74.98% partly vaccinated. Their last data point is the 3rd of october, at which point we had about 23.7 million doses administered -- so that doesn't account for the big difference.

    It's odd, because they do cite the same government website as the source for their information. Not sure what's going on over there.

    So far I still prefer the mode toggle of vim, as it feels like it reduces keystrokes, but modifying and coding your own Emacs settings looks like it has much more potential. I'm willing to stick with it to see if it's just my vim bias persisting.

    I've been using it for a few years, and it's great. I wouldn't want to live without vim's modal editing, but also not without emacs' endlessly modifiable environment.

    Very hard, because compared to businesses that do employ shady UX techniques, you are hamstrung from the get-go. You will most probably be outcompeted by companies with lower moral standards.

    Start another company and hope to do better. (Hard.)
