Writing longhand is always very satisfying to me, and while I don't do it all the time, I will do it especially for stories I'm stuck on. Plus, transcribing it all is an excellent first editing pass.

I made my first handspun yarn that is even enough to be used in knitting, and enough yardage of it for a hat (which will be made by my partner because I can't knit). It's made from a dark mohair and a Horizon Zero Dawn-inspired colourway - I picked the dark mohair because I felt the HZD fibre should have a dark contrast, and it really makes the colours pop!

I also played (or my Partner in Crime played while we chatted/tried to figure out the puzzles together) Gris - it's an indie platformer with puzzles, not too challenging. But it is a delight to play - the art if beautiful (heavily inspired by Eyvind Earle, I'm sure) and so it the music. Your task is to collect lights which not only give you new powers but also return more and more colour to your world. It has a sense of wonder that I love and that keeps me engaged, curious to see what will be around the next corner. It's free on Xbox Gamepass right now!

btw if the vibe of The Invincible is your jam, there's a 1960s Czech movie based on another Lem novel called Ikarie XB-1 that's worth watching, it's beautiful and thoughtful

The Guggenheim Scene is so much fun. It's one of my favourite tracks of the whole score, too. I did know it would be a cliffhanger, but that didn't make it any easier :D

Board game wise, I played Dice City a dice rolling strategy/crafting game where you roll a bunch of dice for resources or events and then use those to build up your little kingdom, fight bandits (or the other player) and trade. It's a game I keep coming back to because it hits the sweet spot of resource management and building for me while not being super heavy on the strategy. Also, the artwork is neat and detailed.

Video game: more Animal Crossing, and I also played more of The Invincible. It's a walking simulator in space, based on a novel by Stanislaw Lem. The game nails the feel of Lem's writing (although take that with a grain of salt, it's been a hot minute since I read his works) and it has a very cool look, like old school scifi illustrations with colours that pop. It's a slow game, and I'm enjoying it immensely. I really like the character you play, a scientist names Yasna who suddenly finds herself in the situation to have to look for and save the rest of her team on an alien planet, with only the astrogator up in the mother ship for support via comms. I think I'm about to head into the end game (it's not a long game, less than ten hours even with stopping frequently to take screenshots) and I'm invested in how it will end.

I also picked up my fifth playthrough of The Witcher 3 again, and it's still a fun and gorgeous game. I just don't get tired of it - I'm about to play the end of the main game and then it's time for Blood and Wine and meeting my favourite character in the whole game (well, except Geralt), Regis. I have't played Blood and Wine for a pretty long time since I always delete all my saves when I finished a playthrough and I'm looking forward to seeing beautiful Toussaint again.

iirc they streamlined a lot of mechanics for the second game. Also, Kratos no longer calls Atreus boy :D They get a ton of excellent character development the first game builds the foundation for.

If you haven't, look up Dad Jokes with Kratos on YT, Christopher Judge is having such a good time with that :D

I've seen both of them multiple times at the cinema, and own them on Blueray. They're among my favourite movies of all times, for the story, the music and the artwork. Every time I watch them, I will forget at some point that I'm watching an animated movie. And then I remember it again and I'm blown away by the art.

I like most of the Spiderman movies just fine, I've even rewatched a couple of them. They're good entertainment. But Spiderverse grabbed me in a way none of them did. Spider-Verse gets Spiderman (I'm sorry, Spider-Man), the mix of whimsy/funny and action and earnestness. And they both have spectacular animation. They never forget the comic roots - you can see it in textures, in the stylised shapes and the thought/speech 'bubbles' that are effortlessly part of some scenes. And they also do such bold things, like the radical changes in style and colour in Across the Spider-Verse that nonetheless are never jarring.

The Leap of Faith sequence is absolutely iconic. The movie builds towards it, and the payoff is incredibly satisfying.

Man, I know what I'll be watching tonight. Maybe I'll do a liveblog.

I had never heard of him but I'm really enjoying that album. Uncanny Valley is a banger of an opener and the album keeps that energy. I'm definitely going to give his other albums a listen!

I also played the demo of The Möbius Machine and had a lot of fun with it. You play as a little spacer dude who investigates a distress call at an abandoned colony. I enjoyed the platforming and the combat (although I hope they will tweak the aiming a bit, that felt wonky), and I love the chill synth soundtrack. I will definitely buy it when it comes out in March.

There are! There's one with a view of the palace and I am considering doing that one (but as the last one so I get some more practice on details). I kind of want to do one from every region, so I already have Velen and Skellige, Toussaint in planning, and I need to go look at the ones in White Orchard and Kaer Morhen Valley to see if I can get good screenshots (or if I pick a nice view and add the PoP)
