I had a rough day yesterday. My youngest is at university and I’ve had a self hosted (vps self hosted) NextCloud instance for years. Constantly patched. But yesterday I had to shut it down. Leaving him with only cached file access to his university work, and stale keepass vault.

But what else to do but hit the off switch? I also lost my keepass vault at that moment. Passkeys and otp all gone. I too had a somewhat stale local copy so that mitigation was sensible.

Then waiting for the nextcloud patches to come out, applying them, testing them, scrubbing through logs for signs of exploitation.

Eventually got my server back online in the small hours in time for today’s lectures.

I’m removing my nextcloud from the public internet over the next couple of weeks, and making it only accessible over my tailnet.

Universal access was convenient no doubt, but that no longer outweighs the benefit of not being public. It probably never did.

EmuDeck was the worst thing I installed on my steam deck. Sprays shite and installs things all over the bloody place, and its uninstaller was only marginally functional.

Still have bits of it on there to this day, two years later, because I really don’t want to fully wipe my internal and sd card.

Community around it seemed a bit unhinged at the time as well, especially when retro deck was releasing.

Retro deck is so much cleaner

I can’t think of what any connection might be. There are surely users of Linux who are and aren’t vegan, and vegans who use and don’t use Linux.

How many of the programs did you try? I tried the illustrator one, and the photoshop one, and got some work done. I didn't notice it being a particularly buggy mess, but this will largely depend on the features you care about I suppose. There was some old quote I forget but like, each person only uses 10% of word, but they all use a different 10% or something like that.

Vegetarians and Vegans are the one group it's acceptable to mock and belittle. Even on Tildes which is generally a much more accepting place.

The top level comment here is an example of "hurr durr, you don't eat animals so I'm going to eat TWICE AS MANY" that we have to deal with on a regular basis online. There are a lot of examples of anti vegetarian and anti vegan posts and comments on Tildes, which is why I mostly don't engage with the site.
