Since most of the list is foreign to me, I can't use it as context to grasp your concept of weird/strange, but the first things that come to mind for me:

    • Donnie Darko (1988). Totally whack took a second watching for me.
    • Mulholland Drive (2001). Cult classic, and also totally whack.
    • Less weird than the last two but also weird in its own way Melancholia (2011). You see the end at the start - another planet collides with Earth.

Oh man it is true that we only hold onto the good memories sometimes - I totally blocked out the 'elevator management' aspect until you mentioned it haha. Well I may dive into this Project Highrise, wish me luck!

Wow, describing it as a 'core memory' seems appropriate. You've made me remember being so hyped to see Santa fly past on a sled. That was a thing, right!?

Sim Tower! I could never beat it but there was some charm that always kept me coming back. I think it was that you couldn't just build everything from the start and I always wanted to get good enough to build a theatre or a cathedral or whatever. Given how hooked I was I'm surprised it never took off, but I guess Sim City was everyone's jam and I was the only one enjoying Sim Tower.

Ooo my go-to is not my favourite so I'll answer in two parts:
Go-to: anything smoked. I see the word smoked on the shelf and I'll grab it!
Favourite: anything labelled 'washed rind' - it has such a distinct stank to it that I'm a sucker for. Unsure if it's because I like stronger flavours, pickled foods, or pehaps it's nostalgia bringing back memories of me as a kid sitting over a bucket of brine trying to fish out some haloumi.

    Reddit 'fugee here.
Only joined recently so apply less weight to my input:

    1. Logged out should see all, lest it be seen as either a soft-wall to access a broader view, or an exercise in tedium to get said broader view (I'm visualising a stick of RAM catching fire as I open my nth cCrome tab)
    2. Somewhat contrarian, but a view of All with an opt-out feature feels like the best way to make sure some small communities don't go undiscovered. I personally would never have navigated to ~hobbies but this unfiltered stream has led me to some pleasant surprises. I despise that my YouTube home page shows me what it thinks I want to see, which makes it an ongoing experience of much of the same. (Yay my 999th Blender tutorial video, Lofi music playlist, and recipe video). If I can just opt out of stuff that would be ideal. I think it seems tedious to opt out but I think a heirarchical structure would make it less onerous. Example I won't have to sub out of ~yankees and ~other team and ~10thbaseballteam, if I can just opt out of ~baseball as a whole. This also kind of makes sense to me since if I'm into ~baseball I can then just opt out of a team/aspect I hate and keep the rest, as opposed to just being disinterested altogether. Sorry I think I've over cooked this but hope my general feel comes across!
    3. Implement however you'd like - if it's opt in, it will be a manual task either way so I guess some of the burden could be removed if some are suggested up front! If we do go down the opt in path, I think the most important thing would be to have an intuitive and easy discovery method for all topics such that people aren't seven drop down menus deep wondering what's at the bottom!

Thanks for lending me your ear!

Heya! My mate has been running MJ in the discord and I can say this: MJ is a super polished user friendly experience and it's much harder to 'get it wrong' in MJ as opposed to SD. I feel like it's an Apple vs Android orrrr Windows vs Linux type of comparison (because yes, get it wrong in SD and you get some gross/horror stuff).

I run it myself, even though the installation instructions are daunting, running the Automatic1111 web UI wasn't too hard! Only caveat is I think it doesn't like AMD GPU and I think you have issues if your kit has low VRAM (I'm running a 3070 8GB and it takes less than 10 secs to make a 512*512 image, so I'm guessing 'low' is lower than that).

If you dabble and you get stuck, hit me up!

Hi Tildes. Yet another Reddit 'fugee - thanks for having me. I lean on the Lurker side more than Poster.
It's been nice seeing some actual conversations happening here. It's also made me realise that the other site was just an incessant dopamine feedback loop a la social media that's probably melted my brain (note: initial visit here had me skipping over some comments because they were too long... Sounds like my brain was seeking them good chemicals for less effort!).
    Me:

    • Work in finance
    • Love food - good eats over fine dining any day
    • Too many hobbies, such that I am master at none of them (PC building, gaming, photography, disc golf, have just learned to swim after too many years on this planet, music production, dabbling in Stable Diffusion AI art, competitive table tennis, I should stop listing things off this is getting embarrassing, etc.)

Look forward to hanging out and hope to contribute to the party. Keep being you, beautiful people.
