Yeah the new show tried to do too much, and as a result accomplished less. It tried to have an A/B story setup with Ben (the leaper) and the people who worked at the program which often meant there was never just a satisfying story told. Honestly I think it could have worked if the seasons were longer and they had the leaps go over more than one episode (maybe too or three). That way they could actually get in a satisfying bit of "a mile in somebody else's shoes" that the original had and we could actually grow to find the ensemble cast in the current time and what was happening with them interesting.

So one of the big things that leads to too much time scrolling on this thing or that on my phone is notifications; I get a notification for this, then end up going over to something else that turns into a great time suck. What I found helps with that for me is my Apple Watch; I get all my notifications on it but, well, it's kinda limited so I don't end up moving over to something else and wasting time on it. It's been a LONG time, but I also found about the same thing to be true when I was using Android devices and had an Android Wear watch.

Yeah I am much more of a fan of ME 1 than 2. ME 2 was still a fun play but it just felt like an overall downgrade from the first. The first had a wonderful retro sci-fi feeling that just...wasn't there with the second. The clip based combat switch didn't make sense and never really felt right after the first one. The games story just felt like a setup for the sequel (which to be fair, it was) and was never satisfying on it's own (however the first games story did set up the sequel and WAS satisfying on it's own). Heck, even the villain was less scary; speaking to Sovereign felt like speaking to some lovecraftian horror whereas Harbinger felt like a generic baddy.

So does anyone else here think this might just be some attempt by Musk to get settlement cash out of Meta? The claims that are made seem like they wouldn't be hard to prove or disprove and Meta doesn't seem like they would be stupid enough to do anything so blatant as to hire ex Twitter employees and direct them to use anything Twitter would have any sort of legal claim to in their product. Meta can just throw money at whatever problems they have while creating Threads.

Musk's thought process is probably that Meta will simply pay to make all this go away because otherwise these claims will mire the launch of Threads in controversy thereby make it a less palatable service. Which it wouldn't since Musk has managed to blow any credibility he had with those who are likely to switch over... however that seems like exactly the type of social miscalculation Musk would make.

What would actually be gained from replacing what is already in place? How would a new icon make the site better? It really does seem that any change should have a definite purpose behind it.
