I went to japan last year with a friend and her aunt in 2024, and we didn't book any agency of sorts we just choose which cities we wanted to visit and make sure the hotels were close to a metro station, that was basically it, the rest of it was min-maxing out expenses.

None of us knew japanese either, beside the basics ("arigato gozaimasu" and "sumimasen").

Obviously we booked all of our hotels in advance, most of them were very clean and with good customer service but quite small.

    My advice would be:

    • Make sure the weather is good for the days you'll be visiting, you don't want to go on rainy or hot season.
    • Book the hotels in advance.
    • Get an e-sim if your phone supports it.
    • Download the maps of the cities in google maps to have them on your phone without consuming too much data.
    • Also download the japanese language package for google translate.
    • Get a suika on your Apple/Google wallet for the metro trips.
    • We use the shinkansen to travel from city to city, you can buy the tickets one day before your trip to make sure you have a good seat, but you can also buy them at the station and wait for the next one.
    • We didn't take any taxi or uber, I heard they are quite expensive. Riding the metro and walking was out only way to move around, we got lost many times but it was fun.
    • Pack some Tylenols and the most comfortable shoes you have, you'll need them.

It would make sense for a re-release to happen this year, since the original game came out in 2006 and the remaster in 2016.

I've been playing The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, which is the only non-multiplayer mainline Zelda game that I have not beaten yet. It's funny because I've been trying to play it since it came out for the Wii (this time I'm playing it on Wii U), but I always dropped it around the events after you beat the first dungeon. But this time, I'm going all in, and I have started to like it a lot. The tears collecting parts were a bit boring, but I started to appreciate the game as a whole.

I love how Castle Town looks in this game; it feels so alive, almost like a real town.
And also, I like how they decided to split Hyrule fields into separate portions this time, so it doesn't feel like a big empty blob like in Ocarina of Time[1].

Anyway, I hope to finish it this time. I'm already halfway through, and after finishing it, I might play A Link to the Past again since it was the first Zelda I played, and it would be a good way to close the cycle.

[1]: I know grass fields are a big empty blob in real life, but it was definitely the weakest part in OoT.

I know that feeling, being a perfectionist might ruin how you enjoy something, that's why I don't try to 100% games anymore. And knowing how big the scope is for a game like Baldur's Gate, I would suggest just going with the flow and play it naturally, being at peace with the fact that you'll miss some content and you'll make mistakes. That is also part of the fun.

Yesterday I finished playing The World Ends With You for the Nintendo DS, and with that I've finally finished all my NDS games.

I'm kind of mixed with this game to be honest, I almost dropped it because even though I liked battle system and the music, the rest of the game didn't catch me that much, specially the characters, I'm maybe too old, but I'm not a fan of edgy teen protagonists in JRPGs1, also the amount of dialog is way too much for how unengaging the story is. But after all I manage to finish it because it was the last cartridge I had still unfinished.

As I said, the battle were great, you can either pick just a few attacks (pins) and finish the game without switching them, or you can go around trying different things, and this is possible because all your health is reset after every fight, so you don't have to worry about wasting your HP trying new moves.

The music was the best part, if you haven't play this game and you like Atlus' Persona, give this soundtrack a try and you may like it, it's great and I'll definitely listen to it again.

[1]: This is why I think Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey is the best JRPG on the DS, nothing like a grown-ass adult as a protagonist.

in 2020 I tried to apply for them but I got stuck in an endless loop of interviews and filling forms, not a single client interview, not a single technical test, just the kind of interviews you have the very first time you apply for a job, it seems like the recruiters didn't keep a track of the applicants progress and once every few days a new one re-started my process. After I while I stopped replying to their emails and sent them to the junk.

I re-downloaded my favorite Iron Maiden albums (the first Dickinson era), and have been listening to them lately, they were a big part of my high-school years but I had more than a decade without listening to them, not because I stopped liking their music, but because I play them too much and got a bit bored of them1.

Listening to them again, I think Powerslave is my favorite album[2], specially because of the Rime of the Ancient Mariner. And even if I don't see them the best Heavy Metal band ever3 they hold a very special place in my heart.

[1]: This happens to me quite frequently and I think it's good because I can experiment different genres of music without getting stuck in a single one.
[2]: Years ago it was Somewhere In Time.
[3]: That would be Mercyful Fate.

Not movies, but recently I've been watching the first Kamen Rider series and I love how "simple" the environments look, also the crispiness of the analog film adds a cozy tone to it.

I'm assuming those were plantains she used and she mentioned you could use banana if you don't have plantains?

You can use both actually, the boiled green plantain is a bit harder than boiled green banana so that texture difference adds more features to the soup, that being said since the plaintains there's no problem if they overcook a little bit, while the bananas will get soggy if overcooked (not a bad thing but something important to point out).

Also, when she sauted the veggies, that was mashed garlic in her molcajete, correct? Then cumin and a small amount of black pepper?

Yes, that's correct, you can season the meat and veggies as you like, but what add the most flavour to the soup are the ingredients added to the beans (Cualantro and garlics).

I'll check Sky since I enjoyed the story a lot, and having extra episodes is worth the effort to play the main story again. Also, grinding in the game is very addictive, a feeling that I never experienced in the main Pokémon games.

I just finished watching "Where Is the Friend's House?" by Iranian filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami, and I have to say I absolutely love it. The premise is pretty simple: it's about a kid who accidentally takes a schoolmate's workbook and has to find the schoolmate's house to return it, or else the other kid will get expelled the next day for not doing his homework. And then the kid takes part in the adventure of finding the friend's house.

What struck me the most about the movie is how well it puts you into the kid's shoes, especially in some scenes where he's talking to adults and none of them really listen to him or pay attention. It's a wonderful film; it's a slow burn, but that's a part of what makes the film great. I'll definitely check how other movies by Kiarostami, hoping they're as good as this one.
