Yesterday I finished playing The World Ends With You for the Nintendo DS, and with that I've finally finished all my NDS games.

I'm kind of mixed with this game to be honest, I almost dropped it because even though I liked battle system and the music, the rest of the game didn't catch me that much, specially the characters, I'm maybe too old, but I'm not a fan of edgy teen protagonists in JRPGs1, also the amount of dialog is way too much for how unengaging the story is. But after all I manage to finish it because it was the last cartridge I had still unfinished.

As I said, the battle were great, you can either pick just a few attacks (pins) and finish the game without switching them, or you can go around trying different things, and this is possible because all your health is reset after every fight, so you don't have to worry about wasting your HP trying new moves.

The music was the best part, if you haven't play this game and you like Atlus' Persona, give this soundtrack a try and you may like it, it's great and I'll definitely listen to it again.

[1]: This is why I think Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey is the best JRPG on the DS, nothing like a grown-ass adult as a protagonist.

in 2020 I tried to apply for them but I got stuck in an endless loop of interviews and filling forms, not a single client interview, not a single technical test, just the kind of interviews you have the very first time you apply for a job, it seems like the recruiters didn't keep a track of the applicants progress and once every few days a new one re-started my process. After I while I stopped replying to their emails and sent them to the junk.

I re-downloaded my favorite Iron Maiden albums (the first Dickinson era), and have been listening to them lately, they were a big part of my high-school years but I had more than a decade without listening to them, not because I stopped liking their music, but because I play them too much and got a bit bored of them1.

Listening to them again, I think Powerslave is my favorite album[2], specially because of the Rime of the Ancient Mariner. And even if I don't see them the best Heavy Metal band ever3 they hold a very special place in my heart.

[1]: This happens to me quite frequently and I think it's good because I can experiment different genres of music without getting stuck in a single one.
[2]: Years ago it was Somewhere In Time.
[3]: That would be Mercyful Fate.

Not movies, but recently I've been watching the first Kamen Rider series and I love how "simple" the environments look, also the crispiness of the analog film adds a cozy tone to it.

I'm assuming those were plantains she used and she mentioned you could use banana if you don't have plantains?

You can use both actually, the boiled green plantain is a bit harder than boiled green banana so that texture difference adds more features to the soup, that being said since the plaintains there's no problem if they overcook a little bit, while the bananas will get soggy if overcooked (not a bad thing but something important to point out).

Also, when she sauted the veggies, that was mashed garlic in her molcajete, correct? Then cumin and a small amount of black pepper?

Yes, that's correct, you can season the meat and veggies as you like, but what add the most flavour to the soup are the ingredients added to the beans (Cualantro and garlics).

I'll check Sky since I enjoyed the story a lot, and having extra episodes is worth the effort to play the main story again. Also, grinding in the game is very addictive, a feeling that I never experienced in the main Pokémon games.

I just finished watching "Where Is the Friend's House?" by Iranian filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami, and I have to say I absolutely love it. The premise is pretty simple: it's about a kid who accidentally takes a schoolmate's workbook and has to find the schoolmate's house to return it, or else the other kid will get expelled the next day for not doing his homework. And then the kid takes part in the adventure of finding the friend's house.

What struck me the most about the movie is how well it puts you into the kid's shoes, especially in some scenes where he's talking to adults and none of them really listen to him or pay attention. It's a wonderful film; it's a slow burn, but that's a part of what makes the film great. I'll definitely check how other movies by Kiarostami, hoping they're as good as this one.

My personal favorite and a pretty common one where I live is Red beans soup (Caribbean style),
it's a very slow recipe since boiling the beans takes around 2 hours but it's worth the wait, and normally the beans are not cooked just for the soup but for future meals.

This is a nice example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V17D8BQe5lk
It will be pretty much the same recipe around the caribbean with some some changes in the ingredients.

So, I've always hated canned food, and thankfully my family did not use canned ingredients as often when I grew up, but recently I tried Moroccan sardines in olive oil, and let me tell you they have become my favorite type of fish, I haven't tried many recipes or combinations but they go pretty well with toast and fried beans at dinner time. The oil does an amazing job diluting the fishy flavors that are normally augmented during preservation.

And the best of all is that, at least where I live, they're not that expensive compared against other brands of canned sardines I've tried in the past (which I despise).

I don't know about brands availability for everyone but if you happen to go to the supermarket and see canned sardines in olive oil from Morocco or any other west Mediterranean country, consider buying them.

I finished Hylics 2 and it has become one of my favorites RPGs, even though the artstyle is amazing, what I liked the most was the gameplay, it feels close to SMT on how the fights flow but it's not as punishing. I tried to collect as much as I could and noticed the enemies do not respawn in the whole game, so it seems to have a finite amount of fights which is a very rare thing to see in an RPG, anyways the game is great and made me want to play Hylics 1. I also checked other games by Mason Lindroth, and all of the oozed with style.

Also, I picked Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze for the Wii U, to finish my journey of playing all the DKC games. So far it's been great, it's so much better than DKC Returns, but a bit more on the easier side (either that or I'm getting better at playing DKC games), the only thing I feel as tiring is the length of the boss fights, which are not difficult but feel so long. But beside that small issue, it can probably my second favorite game in the series after DKC2.

Last time, I played the Donkey Kong Country Trilogy, and this Sunday I finished DKC Returns for the 3DS.

My reaction? It was OK. A bit bland, especially on the art style if you compare it to the SNES games, but overall it was neither bad nor great.

The highlight of the game by far was this jazzy version of "DK Island Swing" that was used on the silhouette levels: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vodDCR29vTs

However, what I really didn't like was how small the characters appear on the 3DS screen. This is obviously due to the game being a port from a Wii game, but it certainly affected me on some levels, particularly when you move too fast.

I'll probably forget everything about it in a week or two, so yeah, there's not much to talk about it.

I also started to play Fable Anniversary on PC.

I remember I played the original back in the day (also on PC), but I didn't get that far on the story because I got lost on what I needed to do. I love how cozy the art style looks and I don't mind the simple battle mechanics because that's not the main focus of the game, and also I'm impressed by how interactive the game is, especially for a game that was originally released in 2004.

31 Minutos is a Chilean TV show, but more than that, it's an institution of Latin American children's programming. Known for being equal parts educational and just plain silly, it's smart, cutting and dynamic in its presentation of Chilean social issues and broader culture. In between classic rock refrains characteristic of the Southern Cone and cutesy choral moments, the puppeteers and musicians of 31 Minutos transform the Desk into a true playground. Everyone is invited to sing, dance, laugh and celebrate the show's first trip ever to the United States.
