i've played it and enjoyed it more than fortnite, but to be honest i don't see the same game everyone else seems to. i haven't played in several days and i don't feel like i'm missing out. PUBG just feels so much more satisfying.

part of it is that the game doesn't seem to have a good MMR system. i was regularly put in matches with players that had tens or hundreds of kills (i have exactly 1). firefights kinda have the "fortnite problem" where it's mostly about getting in close range and then spamming shotguns. fast reshielding/healing times, fast movement, lots of cover, and knockout shields make it very hard to punish other players while at range.

i think there are some clever additions, though. i like jumping as a group, i like the supply ship, and i like the movement options (elevators, etc.). the auto-equipping of gear is nice. being able to revive dead allies is neat, too. the hero powers are a welcome addition; varied enough and they seem well-balanced?

not a super huge deal (i put up with PUBG, after all), but i did also experience several disconnects and crashes after a night of playing.

overall, one of my friends is really into it so i'm sure i'll be playing it more in the future, and i'm sure i'll have a good time when i do. i don't understand the gushing, though. i think a lot of people were just fiending for a more arcadey BR that didn't have fornite's building.

even better than that, valve has increased the market for linux games substantially, which has reduced the exclusivity of gaming on windows.

i dunno, i wasn't expecting much but my wishlist is on fire. i bought the $30 paypal deal and didn't think i'd spend it for a while, but i've already spent most of it.
