That's on Trump for picking a private company for his messages, not an issue for Twitter to treat those messages responsibly.

It might be on Trump, but it doesn't change the fact that this policy would force a person to join Twitter to see what the president is saying. And the comparison to a NYT paywall isn't very good, as the NYT doesn't track what I do after I buy the paper from the newsstand.

    Michigander here.

Just wanna chime in and say that I know some people who might go to that sort of rally, and it's not because they feel any more helpless than they did before.

It's part tribalism, politics as team sports, but it's also an "I'm not gonna let the government tell me what to do" attitude which a lot of people in the state have. The gun carrying guys fit into both, but they just really wanna flex, they literally dream of it, and realized that now they can.

I've seen a lot of that too. I live in Michigan, and even though we're one of the worst hit states, a lot of my relatives seem to think the same thing. It's disheartening. We might just be on the verge of slowing the spread of this virus, and people are wanting to "re-open"... as if that won't undo all the effort we've put in already. It makes no sense.

If someone who has never suggested that they share my values, suddenly starts saying they do, I'd think they're lying, being an opportunist.

The platform doesn't matter when the person running on it hasn't shown they actually believe in it.

Now I see people saying Biden's campaign is to the left of Clinton's in '16.

Biden suggests lowering the ability to get medicare to 60 years old. Hillary suggested 50-55 back in 2016... How's Biden to the left?

There's no reason to believe he will actually fight for any of these new things he's including in his campaign, because he never supported them before. Did he have some sudden turn of heart? Three ghosts visit him? Please...

Nobody is saying Sanders "invented progressive policy" and its just a fact that he's been "progressive" far longer than Warren, who was a registered Republican until '95.

This is about how I feel as well. I can't do anything about the economy, personally. All I can do is try to keep my job if a recession occurs, and since I have at least 30 years until retirement, I'm not terribly worried about the value of my investments going down right now, since it will allow me to buy more at a lower price in the meantime.

Additionally, responding to "Why isn't there more coverage about this?", what would happen if the media went all in on "the recession is coming!"? All it would do is scare investors, and likely make things worse.

Nobody can predict with any certainty what is going to happen in the stock market, and gaving people in the media cheerleading one way or another is never a good thing. It makes people react emotionally and then make poor decisions based on their emotions, whether that means selling all their stocks for safer assets, or buying bitcoin at $15k because of FOMO.

I used colemak for about six months or so, but switched back to qwerty because I couldn't deal with having to switch back whenever I used someone else's computer.

Colemak was much, much more comfortable to type with though. The keys are in much better positions, it seemed as if for most words I could just roll my fingers over they keyboard to type them as opposed to having to pick around the keyboard for the keys. It's surprisingly different. I've thought about switching back but haven't made the jump just yet because it took me a couple weeks last time to get back to normal typing speeds, and I can't really deal with that at work right now.
