I’m a cis straight male, so I always tread lightly in these areas and look to the communities most impacted to help guide my thinking. I am, however, very much into equitable treatment of all people across the globe. And this is pretty disgusting. Also, good on Scotland for making the law in question. Maybe Scotland will try to secede again from UK and pull it off this time.
I’m a little hesitant to say so, but not hesitant enough not to: the women’s equality movement of the 70’s has outlived their usefulness and either need to pivot or stand aside for a next generation. It’s very sad, because “together we stand” as the song goes, but suppression is worse than division in my view. And this issue is not just about queer or gender fluid folks. There are many men who are victimized by contemporary patriarchy as well.
Anyway, we’re in a dark timeline. But darkness is the greatest opportunity for the light to have an impact, because there it is needed the most. I’m not yet sure how, but it’s definitely time to flip the switch.

The scapegoating goes a long way back.
It's interesting because as far as my knowledge, it was the ancient Hebrew religion that created the whole actual 'scapegoat' thing, where a goat would be run through town, and everyone would purge themselves by cursing it, after which it would be sacrificed (and eaten).

For any who didn't watch, the emporers, clones, exist as a three generational triumvirate. A forty-something main guy, a retirement age guy, and a kid. Each grows into the other, and when the old one dies, they bring on the new one.
It resolves you dilemma: there is the wisdom of age at the seat of power, the energetic action of the "prime of life," and the future generation to remind them of direction and what's important.
Of course the clone succession thing is problematic, but having this kind of multigenerational power sharing seems like a useful approach. Your president is maybe 60 or so, the heads of cabinets 50 or so, the senate is all older folks, the house all younger folks.

The west coast could conceivably secede and thrive on their own. Maybe the northern tier from mn to me. CO would probably try to go with the west, maybe also nv and nm. VA and nc are wildcards. But the rest of the country would coalesce into dictatorship pretty rapidly.

I assume qanon began as a larp Umberto Eco Foucault's Pendulum style. But, I think this is quite a reach. That Jewish folk risk becoming scapegoats as part of coming backlash is not something I had considered and is very troubling, so I'm grateful you pointed that out. That there are legitimately chaotic and evil elements within the current administration is beyond question, that's no no conspiracy or parapolitical proposition. That they aim to deport, kill, or enslave every undesirable (to them person) is also very plain. There's no need for this hidden stuff. I also don't think Trump desires (or is capable) of this degree of subtlety. They no longer feel any need to hide or code their stuff anymore, which, if we survive it with minimal damage, will serve us well because we will be able to know who is who.

I bet we can agree that far too many people are doing this. Can we agree that every religious group has members that do this, and also members who do not? Can we agree that many people doing bad things in the name of, or under the banner of, religious profession is wrong? Can we agree that those people neither define the religion, and that we should not assume that any other person associated with that religions shares those same wrong views? Can we agree that a person singled out for views they don't hold, simply because they make a similar sounding confession, might share some of the same emotional experiences as those singled out for their sexual identities?
I am a victim of Christian religious abuse, and other abuse at the hands of Christians, I understand the fear and rage. And I consider active members of the Christian faith who stood by and did nothing to take responsibility for that abuse to be accountable to me (and every other victim) and God. But that still doesn't impugn Christianity, or Christ for that matter. People are capable of great evil, and will misuse trust, and shroud themselves in the clothes of the respectable, all to perpetrate great atrocity. Those of us who have an impulse toward good will best be served by reaching across any denomination which might divide us, join together to stop, prevent, and ameliorate the evil in the world.

NoblePath I'm going to push back on this one. Even leaving aside the question of "what is a Christian," there are lots of folks who are definitely not Christian who are all kinds of these negative things....But if you point to someone who IS homophobic, transphobic, sexist or a Nazi, you can almost guarantee they are a Christian (at least in America where, again, Christianity is the dominant religion).
I'm going to push back on this one. Even leaving aside the question of "what is a Christian," there are lots of folks who are definitely not Christian who are all kinds of these negative things. Islam and Hindu are growing religions (in terms of numbers in the west), and proportionally are more homo/trans phobic and sexist. That new Hindu temple in NJ, the largest outside Asia, won't let female guests show too much skin, for example. (For more on that temple, (see here, via NBC news)[https://www.nbcnews.com/news/asian-america/largest-hindu-temple-asia-opens-new-jersey-built-12500-volunteers-rcna119085]). Many Nazis are embracing paganism, as the originals did. Pretty sure LaVey was homophobic and sexist. Orthodox (and beyond) Judaism is very anti-queer and pro-gender roles.
So while your point may stand based on sheer numbers (and a very wide circle of what is "Christian"), it's a mischaracterization to say Christians are primarily the ones coming out against queer and women's issues.

Not sure where Augustine would come down, but I would be surprised if he would support careless deportation. I thought he was generally a “love of God and love of neighbor” kind of guy.

I am associated with an academic institution, they may have access.
I'm not looking for fully developed articles, rather, I'm looking for a repository of the stories that the journalists chose not to cover or editors chose not to publish. At a mundane level, it's like I imagine an editor hears from a journalist that they have information on a 7-11 robbery, and from another they have an interview on the mayor's murder. Obviously they'll encourage the murder story; is there somewhere an ordinary person can hear about the robbery?

Like, an rss feed of some editor somewhere that lists the stories they passed over.

The challenge as I see it is that the protections don't favor those creating or innovating, but rather creates a class of exploiters who are unfairly empowered by financial and legal institutions to claim/acquire the creative work of others ang generate a lot of profit.
Small players can't access the system. More specifically, the cost of accessing the system exceeds the losses due to infringement. This happens whether it's little guy v. big guy or little guy v. little guy. And when it's v. little guy, you're not going to get any satisfaction anyway, because the other little guy isn't going to have wealth from which you can recover.
As a consumer, do I have a right to be entertained (speaking here only of copyrighted entertainment materials)? No, of course not. But I do have a right to recover those costs imposed on me (and everyone) when other parties externalize the costs of their profits. I am paying the cost to support the legal system which the big distributors access to protect their 'rights.' That's an externalized cost (to them). I have a moral right to recover, from them, the amount of my share of that cost.
A more painful example is the current state of drugs. So many of today's most important, still patent protected medicines have their roots in publically funded research. That's an externalized cost that we all bear, and yet do not have the means to recover from. You better believe if I had the chemical equivalent of an mp3 player I would pirate whatever drug I felt I needed.

Certain kinds of infringement are criminal though.
Also worth noting, there are no universal or natural or even hallowed property rights. They have always been arbitrary amd politically defined.
It’s funny that the ad I got served was pseudoscientific in the way he described. It was an herbal supplement for constipation that argues backward to conclude that “stuck poop” is not relieved by more hydration and fiber, but rather such methods only serve to increase the bulk of “stuck poop.” Their solution? An herbal supplement that truly “unsticks” the poop. It contains inulin, sometimes marketed as a laxative.
