I picked up Children of Morta a few weeks back because it was mentioned on The Besties and sounded like something that would be very much "my thing." It's been delightful - I haven't gotten this invested in a single-player game in a while. It reminds me of playing the Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance series as kid.

It's an ARPG dungeon-crawler with some roguelike elements. The most appealing part is the diversity of characters combined with the way they empower one another. There are truly no wasted runs, because as the different characters level up, they provide boons to every character so you're always progressing at least a little bit. As a plus, it's a fantastic SteamDeck game.

The PC port is really good! I played through HZD on a Steamdeck, and it was a fantastic experience. There were some slowdowns, especially when there were lots of enemies on screen, but on the whole it ran great.

In general, the PlayStation exclusives I've played on PC (mostly just HZD and now Uncharted 4) have been great. I understand there were some growing pains when the first came out, but playing them a little while down the line, things appear to be pretty smoothed out.

I'm really excited to have new content that's not siloed away in its own part of the map. some of the living world maps get pretty lonely, and EoD still feels like a ghost town, especially Kaineng.

Adding more build options by decoupling weapons from elite specs brings back good memories of GW1 and how many options there were for builds.

I'm also excited to see how the maps turn out now that they can build them around the Skyscale. So much old content can be skipped with Skyscale, but if they can assume everyone has access, maps can be built with a lot more verticality in mind.

I'm in a similar situation - my personal PC shares a desk and peripherals with my work setup after my job switched to being primarily remote, so it's been increasingly difficult to want to spend even more time in the same chair. The SteamDeck has been an amazing companion in both playing new games as a parent - the ability to pause any game and walk away is incredible - and in helping me try out games I'd never have given a second look (Spiritfarer was so much more enjoyable that I expected!).

Similarly, I don't have the time, patience, or skill to get into games that expect you to "get good" and have punishing difficulty levels. I have a limited amount of gaming time and I'd rather not spend it frustrated.
