I had a friend do a “manly” self care type of day which I thought turned out really well.

It started with shaves, beard trims, and massages at a barber shop they rented out. After, it was 18 holes of golf and a lunch at the club.

Then they rented out a room to sample cigars and whisky followed up with a dinner at a steakhouse. It was then onto a pub and billiards until everyone filtered out over time.

That is a huge missing feature indeed, and honestly the fact that you can select them, and click Edit, makes it even more obnoxious. The first time you try you're thinking "Oh nice, I can select these few, click Edit, and.... wait... I have to make the change to each then click to the next?" and then the disappointment is even more tangible.

I'm currently using PhotoPrism too, and I've encountered very few issues with it. I have it setup via docker (using docker-compose) and run it in read-only mode to minimize any risk to my photos. It is my primary means of sharing photos with family and friends now.

The only problem is that their monetization involves locking features behind paywalls, and only offering subscription "purchase" options. Due to this, I tried a number of alternatives like Immich, Photoview, LibrePhotos but encountered issues with each so I'll stick with PhotoPrism until those mature.

As for Cloudflare Tunnel, I can definitely recommend the service. That is actually what I am using to publicly expose a number of services like PhotoPrism, Jellyfin, and NextCloud (all behind a reverse proxy). The setup isn't too complicated, and the benefits are worth it in my opinion.

I hope to see more waste management services offer curbside composting. Several years ago a new waste management company started up in my area (small city ~100k population) offering a composting garbage service.

The company supplies compost-able bags for food waste that get picked up alongside garbage and recycling. A side benefit is that they also are the only waste management company in the area that takes yard waste for free year round since that can be composted too. They also make the compost available to subscribers for free as well.

This has had a huge positive impact on how my family handles waste, and it really seems to be a great option that many communities could benefit from implementing.

The Green Bay Packers. I spent my childhood in the state during the Super Bowl years in the nineties and definitely got caught up in the excitement.

Since then, as an adult, I’ve continued to follow them mostly out of nostalgia, but I also appreciate their place as a small market team in the league.

It is refreshingly unique for an American professional sports team to be owned not by a billionaire, but a non-profit owned by the community.

This is what I've been playing as well, and I agree completely. The only complaint I have is how slowly they introduce the new combat abilities, and this is largely because they are tied into the story, but it starts out a little too simple. The combat becomes great after unlocking additional abilities, and the boss fights are incredible both mechanically and visually. The main character and story has been fantastic and immersive. The side quests can be surprisingly interesting and sometimes emotionally stirring even. I've really enjoyed it!

I use 2 strategies depending on the importance and replace-ability of the data.

The first strategy is that the data lives on a home server in a ZFS pool in RAID-Z2, which gives some fault tolerance and redundancy as a baseline (I can lose 2 drives without data loss). I have content like TV shows, movies, music, etc... that all live with only this protection. If I lose some, or all of it, it's fine. I can get it back, or not and life moves on.

The second strategy is for irreplaceable data like important documents and photos. This data also lives on the home server and so gets the benefit of strategy one as well. But this data also is backed up daily to a local NAS device, and to Backblaze B2 cloud storage (using Duplicati currently, but in the process of migrating to Restic).

In this way, all of my data has some level of protection from fault, like a drive failure, but I'm only paying for redundant backups of the truly irreplaceable data.

Oh, that's an interesting solution. I guess it would allow ~gaming to be a space for all gaming content if you had no filters, but you could optionally filter to only the specific games you were interested in within this group if desired. This would to an extent help prevent game specific groups from becoming completely isolated echo chambers, because the posts would still be visible to those in ~gaming with no filters without users needing to have specifically subscribed to ~gaming.pokemon_go or similar.

That is definitely a hot take, and I can't say I agree necessarily, but that late 2016 summer through 2017 were absolutely a magical time and easily one of the top experiences with Pokemon. The excitement of chasing down nearby uncommon Pokemon is unmatched. It's a shame the game is relatively shallow, and microtransaction based, because the concept is so perfect for Pokemon. If they had been able to build a "real" game around the tech with story progression, quests, and some more of the traditional elements, it had the potential to be the best Pokemon game ever.

I definitely agree on the niche video game subreddits. As an example, a space like /r/TheSilphRoad includes frequent updates due to the live nature of the game, as well as the community research and analysis, which would flood ~/games. It may just be that this content isn't a good fit here, but the quality of discussion and theorycrafting in many of the posts and comments does seem like a match to the type of content encouraged here.
