She would but the issue is that she needs to be asleep really early. It's about 7 pm in my time zone. The difficult thing is that we try to sleep together on skype. It's hard to explain but it's almost like we're together in person. I'm going to try going to bed early and waking up early instead, that way I have my time to do things. Even if it is 5 am. It's better than nothing lol

I just recently came to the realization that I am most likely an alcoholic.. Which is a huge bummer for me. And it terrifies me.

I have used alcohol for the past few years as a coping mechanism for my anxiety and to not be completely bored out of my mind. My life is incredibly boring but I don't know how to change it without breaking up with my girlfriend who loves me better than I've ever been loved. So I have a couple of drinks when I get home to be able to enjoy being in bed every day (we're long distance so skype is the only way we see each other...) otherwise I go completely crazy.

For the longest time I really thought I was fine. When I'm out and about I don't crave alcohol and when I've been broke I didn't get sick from not drinking for a week. But I've started looking at my finances and I'm spending a LOT on alcohol... I'm usually having 2-3 mixed drinks and 5 beers in a night.. Every night. I don't get hangovers so I guess I've never seen it as a problem.

Anyway, I'm starting to worry about my physical and financial health. I know I have to stop drinking but I'm terrified of what that's going to do to my psyche.. I'm afraid of ruining the life I built by being unable to handle the monotony of having a calm and boring existence. The doctors I've seen don't want to prescribe anything, they think I should change my circumstances to improve my life. But then I'll lose the only person who has ever loved me for who I am.

I know that I have to face it and that who I am when drinking isn't who I really am... I understand that may actually make me and my partner incompatible and it's just scary. I guess I don't need advice so much, I just needed to vent. Things are going to be rough for a while and I'm dreading it.

As somebody who has tried to do all 3 of those things, I found ditching Windows the hardest.. Which is crazy.

Quitting smoking was tough, but manageable if you have a decent support structure and eating healthier, while more expensive, starts to just taste better after a few days and I even felt better...

But Windows? I tried a bunch of different OS and I just kept getting frustrated about the missing features and weird learning curve. It was like the Windows 8 change all over again except I did it to myself...

Good luck! Stay positive and remember that you are worth making these changes for and so are the people that care about you. :)

I enjoy manga, but I prefer anime generally because my brain still isn't totally adept at reading panels in the proper order when they're in unexpected places or of unexpected sizes. This feedback does make me curious to see if I can make it through. I guess if I assume that there are gods of death and a magical killing notebook, assuming somebody is super smart shouldn't be that much of a stretch.

Full disclosure, I have not finished the Death Note series... I have tried and failed on 3 separate occasions because I can't stand the writing. I love the premise, but L's character is just too frustrating for me. He knows way more than he should at any given point with no explanation except he's a genius (at least, up until the point that I stopped watching. Episode 7 I think). It feels lazy to me. And everybody I talk to in person has felt the same.

BUT! I know that there are a lot of avid Death Note fans out there and there seem to be a few here on tildes, so I'd like you guys to weigh in. As a fan of the show, did you also feel this way about the writing? If so, what other redeeming qualities were there for you in this show? What about it do you love? What about it do you not like so much? It's a long series, should I push through until a certain episode? Have I just not gotten there yet?

This is the problem I'm having with the gaming industry these days... DLC that puts missing pieces into your game, IAPs that are the only way to beat a game, lootboxes that play off of your dopamine seeking monkey brain... Hell, even the ads in free games on mobile are getting WAY out of hand. I played one last week that interrupted your game every 30 seconds or so with 2 ads and then had the audacity to allow you to remove ads for $7.99.... per week. No shit.

Companies these days are pushing the limits every release. "well, yeah, we are fucking you over, but not as much as THOSE guys! Look at EA! They're bad. We're not them. Buy our lootboxes." And it's sad because people actually buy it.... Battlefield 2 got so much shit... But Fortnite doesn't. Or Overwatch. It's insane.

I miss the days of just buying a game... Let the public host their own servers or charge a monthly fee to use one of theirs. Pay for the game and that only... This is why I pretty much just stick to indie games now. These big companies are just... bad now.

I feel like this example is a pretty common thing for most people not to know... And I imagine that other situations like this, journalists have respected Musk's "off the record" statements. But BuzzFeed is nothing but clickbait and gotcha journalism these days, so I'm not surprised that they'd be the first ones to through something like this out there.

And as just a lowly internet dweller, reading the article where they posted something even though it says "off the record" is tacky, regardless if they had a right to do so or not. I feel like it shows the population how little of a shit they actually give about anything other than a story that will get people to click it.

Edit: Okay, I admit I'm not really an expert in any of these areas. I'm just coming from a place of being a regular person with no extended knowledge. This whole thing seems really unprofessional from both sides. I'm not saying Musk should be defended here, but Buzzfeed isn't doing themselves any favors.

Edit 2: Apparently people are really into BF's investigative journalism. I've seen this opinion echoed on other sites as well. However, I'm still going to call them clickbait based off of the examples I've seen included OPs comment below "We saw nuns kill children." I dunno, maybe I'm too harsh on them. I'll read through a few of their articles and reassess my views.

I really enjoyed that game FAR more than I expected to. I got it in a Humble Bundle and then I just couldn't stop playing it. Every world is so wonderfully crafted and it reminded me of SM64 on a personal level for some reason... It makes me FEEL the same as I did the first time I played it. I'm definitely purchasing it on Switch.

I understand what you mean. The playerbase in a lot of competitive games is a little more toxic than I would like which is why I also avoid them. The thing about not being able to play fighting games anymore intrigues me, but it's not really related to the topic, so I won't ask for details unless you feel like talking about it.

I'll have to look into that, I'm not familiar with the windjammers series. Thanks for sharing!

I really wanted to get into Subnautica. I should try it again. I think that standalone expansions are a great idea and I whole heartedly support that.

I'm personally really excited about Dreams (which is made by the same team that created Little Big Planet) and this weird indie farming/exploration game I found on kickstarter called Garden Paws.
