I know Intel recycles their water in Arizona and are predicting to have net-positive water use by 2030, but I'm sure it'll take TSMC more time for that, and further exacerbate the problem.
Edit: Since the issue in this article is stemming from inadequate training.
“The guys were spraying fireproof chemicals on the I-beams. It didn’t matter if you were having lunch, they’d just spray right above you. Everyone out there had the same cough. I’m sure it was because of that. I left the job and my cough cleared up a month later,” the worker said.
The only solution seems to be more inspections and training for the Taiwanese employees.

It can help nations, but I do wish we moved on from country-centric language, as this sort of rhetoric has a chance of not going well.

I'll be honest, the average American still doesn't know much about the war other than 9/11 and 'we needed revenge against the brown people'. No one talked about how these groups were paid and trained by us for decades prior, and how their leader was someone we once celebrated on the news. Even going through an urban yet poor public school education, everything I knew regarding the involvement in the Middle East (Latin/South America, etc) was just generic textbook propaganda. It was college that really opened my eyes and encouraged me to think critically.
I do hold Russians accountable for the actions of their nation, but it's not right to say they're worse than us because Russia is an actual dictatorship where you get 'disappeared' for speaking out. We are a [supposed] democracy yet we couldn't stop our own imperialistic warmongering.

You can defend against American imperialism without having to self-identify as a patriot. As you said, it's a tool that can help save countries, but it's also a tool that destroys other countries (for ex., the soldiers that fight so their nation can oppress others, don't they often call themselves patriots too?).

Comment on Failures in accuracy, ethics and responsibility with Linus Tech Tips and LMG as a whole in ~tech

Money is king in this sphere, GN has employees that need to be paid, and usually sponsors are the way to go for funding. I'm not experienced with marketing/PR, but I don't think they'll be happy if one of their lesser successful channels critiques their more successful channel, causing a potential drop in revenue. I hope I'm wrong, of course, and GN's sponsors respect their decision.
Yes, I agree that LTT diehard fans are a problem, but it's to be expected because Linus is mostly a tech channel for a younger audience (and they reign supreme in monetization + numbers). I don't expect GN to lose a substantial quantity of subs over this because of the core differences between target audiences for both channels.
I was also disappointed with Linus' response that zptc linked. It seems he was expecting a heads up so that they can prepare a response to the material on the video, but that wouldn't solve the core issues that cause these failures in the first place. Edit: Also, Linus deflecting the B Labs thing by mentioning it being charity was hilarious.

Yes, it gave him a boost (albeit temporary) in views/subs/donations, but there is no way there won't be backlash from sponsors who invested heavily on LTT's popularity (which also boosts YouTube's revenue too). I'm pretty sure he wasn't entirely set out to do this in the first place, mostly because of the influence behind LMG that he mentioned for a couple minutes, but I'm glad he did it.
There was also talk that he over-reacted to some of the comments LMG made, but I don't think so -- for a large business like LMG, smearing Steve's lesser-known channel can cause a lot of damage. So, (IMO) Steve deserves props for making this video and having everything laid out and detailed.
Also, the Billet Labs part was sad and infuriating to hear about -- screwing over a small business/start-up like that, even supposing it was accidental, warrants harsh criticism.

Not really a problem but I turned it into a PDF which is working 100% and stable.

I have tried Calibre & SumatraPDF, I was so excited for Calibre until it never worked properly on the one textbook I needed. For example, whenever I went to the next page it would stall on loading forever, and this is apparently a known issue that's [according to the posts I read from the owner] caused by a graphics driver that I'm not interested in delving into just to read an ebook.
The ebook itself is pretty large with a lot of mathematical equations and images, but nothing my computer should be stalling on. The issue with SumatraPDF is that it can't seem to render the mathematical equations properly, and I couldn't find any simple way to load them without having to do more work.

I've picked these two because of their environmental commitments, but I'm leaning towards Amalgamated since it's based in the East Coast.
Edit: Unfortunately, Beneficial is only in the West

Comment on Credit Suisse inquiry will keep files secret for fifty years, says report in ~finance
uppereastbeast So they claim this is for ensuring 'high levels of confidentiality'. I am not sure I'm on the same page as them, but I highly doubt that the Swiss government (notorious for this stuff) will intervene. The document means the investigating commission would hand over its files to the Swiss Federal Archives after a longer gap than the usual 30 years to ensure high levels of confidentiality apply to the investigation, which has generated huge public interest. The investigation will focus on the activities of the Swiss government, financial regulator and central bank in the run up to the emergency takeover of Credit Suisse by UBS in March.

At first I thought he was a soldier who whistleblew to expose the wrongdoings of his nation's army, but it seems like (according to the "Wikipedia" page) he did it unintentionally because he thought special forces soldier's were being "excessively" scrutinize. I do wonder what else he thought would happen?
