I have been starting to design and build out some smart home devices using esp32’s to integrate into Homeassistant via MQTT. So far have a temperature/humity sensor so I can eventually have data for every room in the house. Also gonna connect that to AWS so I can store the data and eventually graph it.

Also building a motion sensor to add light automation.

Also need to finish tweaking a custom smart lamp.
Lots of silly things to keep total control over my home automation

I have had a long internal debate about what other navigation would make sense in the header bar, any suggestions on what you would find useful?

It may be nice to consider having the github links open in new tabs rather then navigate away from your homepage.

Also for your blog posts it would be nice to have a link back up to your homepage, and have the page width match the homepage to make it a bit easier to read.

Adding a filter or page for exhibits is a good idea.

Good catch on that typo, I will get that fixed.

I would love to have a bit more media showing the exhibits in use, but in general the only stuff I have recordings of is occasionally co-workers testing, and some user tests that I can't share. I do usually try to link to any company videos of them where I can. Hopefully once Covid is over I can travel and get some media if I am nearby.

I would say it looks pretty good at a first glance. Couple minor things:
First for the "(higher on list == faster response and more preferable):" text I would change it to match the font of the rest of the sentence.

Second minor thing would be to completely remove the email entry on the contact list until it is usable.

Recently I have gone down a long rabbit hole of a series of BBC shows that catalogue a group of historians/archaeologists spending a year working on farms set during different time periods. There tend to be 12 episodes for each series and they are very relaxing and interesting. They are all available on youtube:

    1. Secrets of the Castle

    2. Tutor Farm

    3. Victorian Farm

    4. Edwardian Farm

    5. Wartime Farm

I decided to link to the search page on youtube since there are a few different channels that offer playlists, the Absolute History channel seems to generally have the best quality, but there are some audio issues in a few of their series. From what I can tell the BBC has sold the licensing rights to a few different places that have put them up on youtube.

I am a fullstack developer that spends a good portion of my time building out complex User Interfaces, and the rest building out back-ends for that software. In my opinion the current method that my company uses for a designer to developer hand off is a bit lacking in efficiency.

The current method is usually a designer will provide a developer with a Photoshop (or very occasionally an Illustrator) file containing the entire applications design. It is then up to the developer to export assets (both quick exporting things as pngs, going through and separating shadows from assets, or creating assets from the layers provided) and dig through the file to determine fonts and placement of items.

Is it a common expectation that a developer should be spending a good chunk of time in Adobe on asset manipulation?

Additionally does anyone have any process or program suggestions that may make life easier?

I don't disagree with the lack of a good view. There are times were having a better view and being able to build from a tower would drastically improve layout. I think it makes up for it by the amount of exploration and world variety, then again I tend towards exploration over optimization in Factorio as well.

I started playing Satisfactory this weekend, it is incredibly addictive. Essentially it is a 3D version of Factorio with a slightly different tech tree, a much more engaging world with tons of variety, and a lot of flexibility, I think I played over 20 hours in the last two days. Definitely worth every penny.

I have spent my evening playing Heavy Bullets and have to give it a huge thumbs up. Its incredibly challenging (I still haven't cleared level 2), and has little instruction on any strategy. So far I have found the Backpack and Last Will to be incredibly useful at increasing your characters power.

I just finished The Draco Tavern by Larry Niven, it was a nice collection of short stories about the future of Earth after first contact with all of the stories focused on the proprietor of a Interstellar traveller tavern at Earths only space port. It has some interested looks at human and alien interactions.
