    If someone is always doing bad things, they are a bad person, if they change, then they are something different.

    I think we have the appearance of choice (don't mistake variation for choice - wearing a different tie every day is variation) but mostly we do the same thing in the same circumstances. A guy always takes $1 out of the church collection plate when it comes around, he doesn't he think of it anymore. He doesn't really chose to be bad, is he bad in your book? Worse than someone who kicks the cat everytime they can?
